The Performance Puts You In The Story

Would you consider the audio edition of The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes to be better than the print version?

Yes

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes because it's a collection of short stories and I like that best.

What does Derek Jacobi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A proper old accent and sense of drama.

Any additional comments?

It is not easy to find a book both my husband and I would enjoy listening to on a long trip and this was perfect. My need for mystery, his love of classics, it all worked out together. Also, since it was short stories, our attention stayed high with each new mystery.

You'll enjoy the historic piece at the beginning of the author talking to the audience.

Interesting & little known short stories

What did you love best about The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes?

Audiobook contains little-known short stories on Sherlock Holmes & his adventures with trusty sidekick Watson.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dr. Watson as he is a complementary character to Holmes.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Elementary my dear Watson

Any additional comments?

Derek Jacobi narrates the stories so well that I could just imagine the scenes as if they were in a movie or tv series. He does however expend effort on the Southern American accents which do not seem to sit well on his British accent. That is, at times he makes some of the American characters sound drunk. Overall, excellent narration which brings to life the main characters and the stories.
