Publisher's summary

A conservative young environmentalist provides an intrepid vision for both solving our climate crisis and prioritizing the American national interest.

Politicians, pseudo-experts, and other partisans have led us to believe that there are only two approaches to climate change: doomerism or denial. Benji Backer, Founder and Executive Chairman of the American Conservation Coalition, argues that both are dead ends. In The Conservative Environmentalist, he delivers an entirely new strategy to take care of the planet while putting the economic interest of the American people first.

Backer makes the compelling case that conservative principles are the key to climate solutions that actually work. In this book, you’ll visit the country’s most diverse ecosystems and consequential manufacturing hubs—from Utah coal mines and Texas oil fields to Louisiana wetlands and Rhode Island offshore wind farms—witnessing the power of individual entrepreneurship and local problem-solving. You’ll be inspired by groundbreaking efforts to strengthen earth’s ecosystems (that Green New Dealers and other Big Government advocates would prefer to keep hidden), like partnerships between oil and gas companies and environmental nonprofits to preserve thousands of acres of wetlands.

Drawing on cutting-edge science, a deep understanding of local community needs, and his experience rallying politicians on both sides of the aisle to take action, Backer offers hope for everyone who cares about the state of the great outdoors. Fascinating, clear-headed, and full of surprises, The Conservative Environmentalist is the fresh, audacious approach needed to ensure a sustainable future, and particularly one that works for America.

It was refreshing too see a different take on the Environmental Movement.

I enjoyed this title very much. I recommend all people to read/listen to this and to gain a greater understanding of how to solve the Climate Crisis. Obviously, there is a political bias in the book, but it was backed up by hard data. Which makes it more convincing. Finally, no matter what you are on the political spectrum I recommend this book.

I think the author has been too influenced by the extremes of both sides of the political spectrum

It would be helpful for the author to review some history to better understand why federal regulation took hold in industries that pollute our communities and destroy nature. His concern about corruption in national politics would be valid if he also recognized that corruption occurs in the same way at the local and state level. People are either moving toward something they like (reward) or away from something they dislike (penalty).

I appreciate that he cares about environmental issues but his take on a free market, local solution to climate protection decisions are just naive. The same way you want people who live in urban areas to understand those who live in rural areas should be said for both.
I really wanted to like this book and was open to his message but he lost me early on. Too political and too ‘free market solves everything’ ….. uggg

Dumb uninformed

The author should attend another university or attempt for educate themselves prior to speaking. The southern hurricanes were caused by increasing extreme weather conditions where the intensity of weather events will occur. Idiot
