Publisher's summary

If Hell is full, where do the sinners go?

Theodore Goss is minding his own damn business when humanity's time runs out. Everyone is shunted off to Godguild, a new universe filled with magic, monsters, and stats, where the afterlife is determined by progression. It's not about being good anymore, or even being strong. All that matters is being at the top.

Hard though it is, Theo plays along as an Afterlifer, determined to make it to paradise eventually. But when a vicious guild drags him into a skeletal dungeon run, Theo realizes the monsters have it much worse than him.

Theo helps the surviving skeletons build a new home. To ensure their continued survival, however, Theo needs to navigate the minefield of unfriendly mobs, monsters of every shape and eldritch size, and of course, Hell itself peeking in at the edges, all while plumbing the secrets Godguild is hiding.

It's going to take more than levelling up to make it in this cruel world, and Theo is just the guy to go above and beyond.

Survival? Maybe for now. But Theo is coming for Godguild itself.

The Crypt Lord's Call is book one of Godguild, a LitRPG series where the protagonist brings intelligent mobs to his side by hook or by crook, all to take the fight to the system. It offers a healthy helping of crafting, base-building, and survival elements.

actually pretty good

this book was actually pretty good, I feel it will really blossom in book 2, but book 1 is nothing to scoff at. this book has its pros but it also has its cons. we're going to get into all of that in this review.

the Narration is pretty good, Henry is a really good narrator. I like him alot, he has a good voice, he has multiple different voices, I feel he performed this book very well. the narration is a 5 star.

The characters are written good, I think the mc has depth to him, but he also makes dumb decisions. I like some of the choices he makes, but at the same time he does make alot of dumb decisions. all that being said, I do think the side characters are pretty cool, there written good, they also have pretty good personalities. I can also see some character development throughout the book so that's good. I rate the characters a 4 star.

Now the plot is iffy, I do like it, but there are some boring parts. I feel some chapters will go by without anything happening. I also feel some chapters are really interesting and intriguing. I like the way the story went and how it ended, but some of the plot was boring.
The world building is actually really good, I like the world and how it's built, the detail in this book is crazy. I really like it, the premise is really cool. I honestly think the world building doesn't have a "bad" thing about it.
I rate the plot a 4 star & the world building a 4.5 star.

Like I mentioned before this book does have its cons, but I do think this book is a solid choice. I honestly think alot of people won't get this book because of the rating, I actually really liked this book. I do recommend this book, I found alot of enjoyment in this series, and I think alot of other people will too.

very redundant adolescent

nobody needs to know everything in the inventory story was ridiculous a level 7 did something 3 level 200+was unable to do. the gyro flip-flops several times. and nobody needs to know the stats of a wall or roof or an everyday hammer

Boring

Nothing interesting happens and the narrator doesn't help it. I skipped and fast forward, but I can't enjoy the story.

I wish it was better

Ok, so blunt and honest, this book was bad. Personally I have an issue when a book is written in 1st person. Not many people can write a 1st person view point that we'll and this one DOES NOT do well. The ideas:solid, the characters:different and unique, the MC: I hated him.

By the 2nd half of the book I kept thinking "STOP COMPLAINING " And it was driving me up the wall. And there were many moments where there was TELLING without SHOWING.

The last thing that annoyed me, I was able to jump MANY chapters toward the end and it felt like I missed NOTHING.

This one's hard

Okay here's the thing with this book it had the potential to be very good the concept was interesting and at first I was very intrigued with how it was going to play out, unfortunately, it got lost very quickly. The overly repetitive and redundant phrasing is clearly just word count fluffing and man was it annoying. For instance, when the main character picks up anything at all the author wrote In the system asking if he wanted to put it in inventory come on it's an implied yes every time there's no reason to repeat it in a book a million times like what's the main character going to do carry around everything in his hands NO he's going to put it in his inventory it's that simple. In the long run, the book seems to focus on stats and what was in the character's inventory and the story was just kind of on the sidelines instead of the other way around.

Small spoiler

Love the mc - side characters neat world, fun system awesome world!
My one and only complaint would be the lancer class… a lance is not a weapon used bye foot soldiers or frontline fighters it is exclusively a mounted cavalry weapon… (at least as fare as I’m aware) besides that bothering my ocd the book was fantastic and I will be reading book 2

Exceptionally boring

Nothing really happened except reading the same list of stats over and over until I gave up on the book.
