so many insecurities

An insecure woman suddenly finds herself in the center of a pissing contest. She has a date with her coworker, a doctor at the hospital she works at. She also has had a meet-cute with a very hunky Chris, whom she met at her sister's wedding only days before. Chris is totally into Ivy Parker but she has some serious issues with her self esteem, something her family doesn't help. He wants her bad but she's dating the doctor and he knows the doctor is no good for her. I just love it when a man knows what he wants and goes for it. Chris was my jam. He quickly started his claim and told Ivy what the deal was. I didn't like how the doctor treated her with the backhanded compliments and the controlling ways. I also didn't enjoy hearing how disrespectful Ivy's open family was to her. Coming from a household that doesn't respect you, that pushes a few buttons. This is a slow burn but when it heats up it's… warm. I really felt for ivy through this story. It was a good one, not amazing but good.

Good story!

Ivy has never had a good sense of self, always thinking how she doesn't quite look like a model, and that feeling is very strong within the first chapter of the story. Her sister is getting married and Ivy's looking around and wondering if she'll ever find Mr. Right to love her for herself. Her sisters are introduced at the wedding dance and it's immediately obvious who is going to be her nemesis. Now it's time for the bride to throw the flowers and, naturally, Ivy is the one to catch them, but she falls into someone's arms as she falls toward the floor. Chris is a good-looking businessman. traveling back home to Kansas, but he and Ivy are dealing with a heavy case of instalust and he sticks around. He thinks he's beautiful as she is and won't tolerate her insecurities about her looks...men. If only it were that easy! With a complication involving the doctor she works for having feelings for her, Ivy makes some obliviously stupid decisions that put her in danger. Ivy is not one of the better characters in this series because of her hasty thinking and ill-advised decisions. Chris is wonderful man and truly cares for Ivy, but he is written as a not-quite-neurotic business owner who loses his mind near the end. It does have a happy ending and I'm happy for them all.
The narration by Terri Clark Linden is extremely well done. Her dynamic voice, solid pace and excellent intonation bring this story to life!

...could have been a more nuanced story.

The story is a relatively short listen, which hindered what could have been a more nuanced listen. The evolution of the romantic pairing left me feeling somewhat detached from their journey. I liked Chris with his up front behavior while interacring with Ivy, even while dealing with her issues.

A good addition to the series

The second story of the series takes us back to Wyoming and the Parker sisters. This time it’s Ivy’s story. She is a maternity ward nurse, with some self image insecurities due to her weight. At her sister’s Taz wedding she meets Chris, a friend of the groom. Chris is a hard working man, rough around the edges and one with whom attraction is immediate.
Overnight Ivy, who never had dates, ends up with two, one with hard working Chris and another with a very polished doctor. This one with ulterior motives.
It’s a story about family , relationships, life’s ups and downs, and about following one’s heart. Also a reminder that what people say to someone , even in jest, does in fact affect how they see themselves.
Another entertaining story in this series.
I wish to say also, that the narrator of the audiobook, Teri Clark Linden , does a very good job with the different voices in the story.
The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Great Read

The Dating Game (The Parker Sisters #2) was a great read by Lorhainne Eckhart. Ivy Parker is a nurse who quickly finds two men stepping up to date her. She must find out which one is Mr. Right. One of the men is a complete mystery and this dating game totally turns her world upside down. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.

short but sweet

this story fooled me. I thought it was going to be like one of those stories about how Luke the bachelor and the contestants. nope not at all. just one girl and two guts. to me the choice would have been hands down for one of the guys and the other one wouldn't have even gotten a date. but in the end she makes the right choice and I agree with how her parents handled the situation .

The Parker Sisters a fantastic family dynamic!!!

I own and have read the entire Parker Sisters (boxed set) series and love the fantastic family dynamic of the entire family. Ivy and Chris are my favorite couple and I want to know more about them. With this book I have (through audible) listened to the entire series too. Thank you Lorhainne for your wonderful choice of narrators, they have truly made listening to this series very enjoyable. I am now ready to move on to book 6 and the wedding plans for 3 of these fantastic sisters.

clean romance with a bite

There is fat shaming and not just from outsiders. The wealth shaming. The story was clean with a very quick love you. The narrator is the job that was passable. The was a third person narration so expectation for clear distinct male and female was not expected. But a clearer distinction between characters was expected.
