Publisher's summary

This small anthology is a collection of short stories and drabbles that feature Death and desolation in varying degrees. Whether it is a lonely man travelling through a dead England, a post nuclear journey home, a man in chains, the apocalypse caused by an innocuous plant, hope from the infected, or nocturnal visitations, they all offer the loneliness and isolation.

Creepy and twisted in a good way

Every story in this collection is unique. All stand alone. Each tale is well written and fills the need for any horror fan.

Entertaining Collection of Dead Time Stories

Decent collection of short stories. They definitely have a creep factor to them that had me wanting to listen to more. A mixed collection in length, some less than a minute, and I found that regardless the size, they each offered something unique. They all revolve around death somehow and fortunately they are not all zombie themed. Many were not what I would consider horror but all of them were dark and twisted. Overall a really good mixed collection of stories.
Paul Cram did a great job narrating the story. As this was all told in third person there wasn’t any character voices, although Cram provided a great narration with a good cadence and inflection. I felt that his tone was fairly somber which added to the bleakness of the overall stories.

pretty good collection

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a great collection of short horror stories that all focus on death and desperation. They don't try to focus on gore and shock like some of these anthologies do. The narration is done is good. There is a little bit of background noise in places, but not so much that it bugged me enough to stop listening. All in all, this is a good short story collection.

Great book, good narration, medium sound quality

(I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review)
Great short stories, some dark, some even with funny twists; all very interesting and entertaining. The narration is clear. The only thing I didn't like was a low but noticeable recording noise.

Well written short stories.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to these collection of short stories. I will warn that these stories are on the darker side, but if that's what you are expecting going into it, it will be quite enjoyable.

I thought the narrators performance was really well done. my only complaint would be the equipment that was used to record the audio. At times I could hear feedback from the mic and the narrators voice seemed a bit muddled. If better equipment were to be used, I'd increase the rating to a 4 or 5.

Bite-sized chunks of horror

This short story anthology reads fast; there's no over-pontificating. They all get to the point quickly and some are quite brutal. Quite a few of these are zombie-themed, which I dig a lot.

The narrator seemed to pronounce a few words a little oddly, not sure if it's on him or from typos in the book. Overall, however, he was fine.

My favorite three stories:
The Dying and the Desolate
The Slave
Damon is Dead

A collection of post-apocalyptic stories

Paul Higgins has put together another enjoyable collection of short stories. Most deal with a post apocalyptic world, often with zombies. All deal with loneliness and loss. Despite the sameness of the setting Huggins shows his range in style, with each story being unique. There are stories from the point of view of 'good' guys, from 'bad' guys, first person, third person etc. He keeps it fresh.

Between each story is a 1 minute mini story. These are extremely short, but work really well to break up the larger stories. I thought it was a great addition to the overall presentation of the book.

Narration by Paul Cram is good. He is well paced and easy to listen to. he is engaging. However there is a low hiss/hum through the entire recording (it is highlighted at the end of chapters when there is a slight break from it) that brings the overall production down a bit.

horror thats not all about the scares

Short story collection in time for the holidays!

Not every story is a winner, there is a lot of great content here. I really enjoy listening to short story collections because it's not a huge sink. You can get a lot of good content without having to invest too much time in to it, individual stories are more tightly written. And it leaves you wanting more.

Well done:)

Excellent narration and enticing entertaining and so erry at times which is a great recipe for a dark fantasy book.
I hope to see much more in the future from this author.
Great job!
