About this listen
In the search for the truth, the line between fact and fiction is beginning to fall out of focus It is 1903, and Lily Temple is a beautiful silent-film actress who spins fairy tales and plays frivolous roles in front of the cine-camera. But beneath the costumes and stage makeup is a woman with a quick wit, a murky past, and a tantalizing secret.
As an underground investigator to the wealthy, Peter Driscoll has been tasked with locating the legendary Briarwood Teardrop, an exquisite sapphire that has been missing for years—and which Lily happens to be wearing beneath her gown. In order to stay close to her and unravel the mystery, Peter employs the enchanting actress’s help on a case.
But as they are investigating together, Peter is also investigating Lily. The closer he gets to the truth, the more danger they face. And the closer he gets to Lily, the clearer it becomes that he needs her even more than she needs him.

All theater romances are tragedies. Ella Blythe knows this. Still, she cannot help but hope her own story may turn out different than most - and certainly different than the tragic story of the Ghost of Craven Street Theater. Yet as she struggles to maintain her tenuous place in the ever-shrinking ballet company, win the attentions of principal dancer Philippe, and avoid company flirt Jack, Ella cannot deny the uncanny feeling that her life is mirroring that of the dead ballerina.

Beautifully written
As always, Joanna did a wonderful job creating a beautiful story with an extra exquisite setting.
It was definitely different then some of the others she’s written with not as much drama and mystery in it - at least to me-, but it was still enchantingly heart warming and had some thought provoking spiritual analogies i will always remember.
Thank you again for writing a book with elements of faith and God in it, it inspires me as a new Christian Author myself.
It’s a big part of the reason I published my first book and have started my second; it’s because I listened to your books.
So excited for your next one!
P.S I literally have pretty much all your books on my book shelf🤩

Creative and Unique
As all of her other stories, this story was beautifully written and very different from anything else she has written. Stories about loving one another, righting wrongs, honesty and standing up for what you know is right. I don’t want to spoil the story, so no details. Just listen and enjoy the fantastic narrator tell a beautiful tale.

Best one yet
Joanna is a masterful storyteller and this is her best work yet. This novel was so well crafted with a rich tapestry of characters and storylines that were beautifully woven together. I have read all of her books and this is the best she's written. The other books do not disappoint, but this one is special. I'm looking forward to reading it again.
Side note: For those who are unfamiliar with her work, Joanna focuses on "story" versus "steamy" when telling of the blossoming relationships between her heroines and heroes. They are always clean.

Beautifully written and narrated
The combination or the writing and narrator work so well together. A great story with a good many colorful petals. My review really isn’t going to do this book the justice it deserves. I will be eagerly awaiting her next books.

I adored this book!!!!
I am so thrilled that I found Joanna Davidson Politano and that she wrote this book. It's magical, beautiful, and will draw you into Lilly Temple's life in a good way. I miss her story- her world already. It's not magical like Alice in Wonderland or Harry Potter...so don't worry no spells or enchantments. It's just the world that Joanna creates the mystery of Miss Temple that makes it a magical story. I wish there was a sequel but I have no idea what it would be about since the story warps up nicely. I love listing to stores that have the characters relate to God and their faith or lack of faith woven into the story line as well. I also really enjoyed Amy Scanlon narration of the story. She did a fantastic job. I will say this story was not something I would normally listen to but since Joanna wrote it I was definitely going to give it a chance and I am glad I did. Looking for to the next title coming out.

Overall good but not her best
I love this author. So this is not my favorite of the few I’ve listened to of hers so far, but it was still good overall and worth the listen. There were some surprises which I would never would’ve guessed, and I love how she weaves God‘s tenderness and love for us through her stories in a way that draws me to Him and makes me weep out of knowing how special I am to Him. In this story in particular, I liked the mystery and romance, but it was overdone in the way that the main male character could “read” the main female character’s every thought and secret just by listening and looking. I found that quite silly and unrealistic, but overall their interactions were sweet otherwise. I loved the adventure in it. Definitely worth the read, and to those of you who don’t believe in God, don’t let that stop you! it is only a small part, a small part of it that I personally loved, but it shouldn’t bother you I don’t think.
