Superb

Excellent performance. Very enjoyable. I was happy with the original readers, but this is a great add.

Volume is all over the place

The performance was engaging and dramatic, but the contrast in volume was frustrating, especially towards the end. The narrator acts out each part to the letter, which means when someone is speaking softly she is difficult to hear, and if someone shouting she will bellow. Unfortunately these situations happen often and right next to each other, so I'm constantly adjusting my volume. It is especially frustrating in the car when I'm trying to hear over the road sounds. Her murmuring is too quite so I turn up the volume only for my ears to bleed moments later from her shouts.

What a voice!

Rosamund Pike was amazing. Her voice was enticing and different with every character. I can honestly say I don't think i have ever heard a better reading.

Great performance!

The narrator in this version dies a superb job of telling a story. Nicely paced. After listening to both version I became aware of how much I overlooked in the other version because of the way it was told. The words did not changed in this one but the performance gave a most appropriate gravitas to what was being said and done in the story. Bravo!

A wonderful story, beautifully narrated

I'm looking forward to the sequels. The storyline is complex enough to create some mystery and interest for adult readers, yet I think understandable for younger listeners. perhaps not suitable for very young listeners given the complexity of the story, and the dark/evil thread at the core of the story.

Excellant

I gave this a listen wondering how the narration would be with someone I haven't heard read before. Rosamund Pike did an amazing job. I hope they hire her to do the entire series.

A Masterclass in Narration

Rosamund Pike could narrate the HIPAA privacy act and make it enjoyable!

Seriously- her narration easily elevated this to my favorite audiobook yet.

If you're looking for a solid and engaging series with an exemplary performance this is well worth picking up.

My only hope is that she continues narrating the rest of the books!
