Publisher's summary

What if it all came crashing down?

It started with the "biggest" stock market crash in history. Banks shut down under the weight of their bogus investments, and the financial sector failed. People looked to the government to make it all better. They couldn't! Hyper-inflation, mass unemployment, and infrastructure started to break down. The food trucks didn't show up at the stores, and the shelves went empty.

Things turned ugly fast when there was no power for long parts of the day...then forever. Things started falling apart quicker after that. Whole regions declared a "State of Emergency" in an effort to maintain order and civility, but it wasn't always enough. Starvation, looting, and murder became the norm. Then, American civilization collapsed completely.

The Fall of America: Book 2 continues John's story of survival and resistance after society breaks down. Russian invaders continue to try and pacify the areas of the South under their control. The American resistance groups divide their forces into small cells to better operate effectively behind enemy lines. But as their efforts begin to gain ground, the Russians respond with harsh reprisals; mass executions become the norm, and prison camps soon spring up in remote small towns. "Fear brings compliance," is their motto.

The battle for control of Mississippi gets hot, and a violent world gets even more ugly. Can the US partisans survive the overwhelming Russian Army and its thermal detection technology/helicopter gunships/and scorched earth tactics?

Extra background noise is a distraction.

Any additional comments?

But, unlike last narrator, did not seem like he was speed reading. Shame because both have a good voice.

Storyline follows the original Book 1 flow but . .

Where does The Fall of America rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It's in my top 5 of this genre. I particularly loved the fact that much of the story is up to date in terms of military equipment and when speaking of politics and politicians.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Lee Alan?

Mr. Grimsley is who I would have narrated this second book. Primarily because I purchased the second book immediately upon completing the first book and expected to hear the same voice. Lee's voice and narration is so much more different from Lee's that it was hard to get used to. Lee narrates well, it was just a shock to the system to have the narrator switched like this.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Will update upon second listen (ironic how much of the story I miss because of phone calls or other issues distracting me so I listen at least twice).

Fall of America

Good story. Can't get past the sound effects. I couldn't finish. Please sample before purchase. Lesson learned.
