Drew Maclane was a star agent - until the day the killing had to stop. He withdrew, and for six years lived the life of a hermit in a monastery. But someone has tracked him down, leaving a trail of corpses...someone who knows all about him, who knows how to draw him back into that electrifying world where no one is as he seems, and where life's most horrifying and harrowing game is played.

Cast of performers: George Ralph (narrator), Jean Reed Bahle, Christy L. Beatty, Paul Dreher, II, Dale Hull, Jonathon Hull, Brian K. Johnson, Len Kopka, Gladys Long, Michael Page, and Lowell George Seibel.

Great read

The Fraternity of the Stone Mortalis, Book 2, my first read from author David Morrell, an author I'd wanted to read for years, in fact, I've gotten a half-dozen of his books on my TBR list..All I'd anticipated and more. Think Robert Ludlum, Steve Berry & James Rollins. Outstandingsuspense. 10-hours 24-minute/482-pages. I'm voluntarily reading & reviewing it because every book needs reviews. The narration cast of performers: George Ralph (narrator), Jean Reed Bahle, Christy L. Beatty, Paul Dreher, II, Dale Hull, Jonathon Hull, Brian K. Johnson, Len Kopka, Gladys Long, Michael Page, and Lowell George Seibel's outstanding narration adds to the book's enjoyment. I look forward to reading more from this author. Good story

I’ve read this a lot when I was young. One of my favorite Morrell novels. Audio version was good, but one tip: put the speed on 0.9. I think they made a mistake uploading this too fast.

Good Story - Terrible Narrator

While I enjoyed the storyline and the main character(s) were intriguing, the narrator ruined the experience. Other than the dialogue, which he read reasonably well, he read much too rapidly and mechanically. It reminded me of the voice on my Amazon Kindle and, believe me, that is not a voice you want to listen to for long periods of time.

meh

Disappointing story and conclusion. Not worth the read unless you must wrap up the storyline, as did I.

Plot heavy

Interesting concept, but the plot was too fast-moving and incident-ridden. Character development and scene description suffered, leaving me with the feeling I'd just read a story board for a TV series. The narrator's rushing through the reading didn't help. Slow down, guys! If we had attention spans of 5 minutes, we wouldn't bother to read books.

Secret Religious Orders revealed?

The research and analysis that Morrell conducted of religious orders was profound. Morrell continues to be a great story teller.
