About this listen

First three books in the best-selling Ghost Files series, including:

Ghost College, by Scott Nicholson and J.R. Rain First in a new series featuring paranormal investigators Ellen and Monty Drew. Ellen claims to possess a sixth sense, but Monty, a former PI, only believes what he can see. She views their work as a sacred mission, while Monty just wants a happy wife and a paycheck. In Ghost College, the Drews are summoned to a Southern California bible college after workers report hearing mysterious voices at night. When they encounter the unhappy ghost of a young girl, Monty's skepticism is shaken, but he resolves to help his wife free the trapped spirit.

Ghost Soldier by Evelyn Klebert Paranormal investigators Ellen and Monty Drew's dream vacation to New Orleans is prematurely cut short when they are unexpectedly and reluctantly put to work on a case that may be beyond their talents. Called to arms by Monty's cousin Colonel, Monty and Ellen set out to clear a home on a military base of spirits that have been plaguing it with extreme paranormal phenomena.

Ghost Fire by Eve Paludan Paranormal investigators Ellen and Monty Drew go to West Los Angeles for some rest and relaxation, as well as to shop for items to redecorate their home. But, apparently, there is to be no respite. Ellen is a ghost magnet, so they now have about 48 hours to solve a spontaneous combustion mystery in a haunted co-op art gallery before its grand opening in Venice, California.

I found a new favorite series.

What did you love best about The Ghost Files: First Three Novels?

It is simply so well done that it is hard to say what I like best. Was it the incredible writing? Or maybe it was the ingenious plot? Perhaps the entertaining style? The engaging characters? Possibly my favorite thing is fact that they manage to make a super-natural story realistic and plausible. One expects engaging suspense, but making this genre believable is hard to pull off. Could it be the amusing turns of phrase? "He let his eyes crawl over her figure like a putrid tongue." Now that is a descriptive phrase. Maybe it is that this book captures perfectly the experience of a married couple in love. I don't know. I just know that I have found my new favorite series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Monty Drew, the paranormal investigator and husband in love, is skeptical, witty, and an all around nice guy. Mr. Perry plays him to a T.

What does John M. Perry bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

While these stories are amazing and incredibly well written, I would never read them now that I have listened to them. Mr. Perry has a slightly zany, slightly schmaltzy voice that is absolutely perfect for these stories. He gives an excellent performance that keeps you on the edge of your seat when you are not laughing out loud. I will go and find everything he has ever done and listen to it now.

Who was the most memorable character of The Ghost Files: First Three Novels and why?

All of the characters in this well written series are memorable. From the 30 year old janitor listening to Pearl Jam while dancing with his mop, to Sandy (the psychic cab driver), to Diego (the professor turned artist who sounds like Ricardo Montalban from Fantasy Island); they are all unforgettable.

Any additional comments?

If you like super-natural tales, comedy, or clean romance, this series is for you
