About this listen

The Great Dying is a terrifying look at what happens when greed threatens the existence of man.

This audio set contains the first three thrillers in The Great Dying Series:

The Last Five Days: Two fishermen caught something they weren’t expecting on Black Dog Lake. A mysterious virus with an almost supernatural way of evolving is spreading. People get sick. People get violent. People die. But, the disease lives on. Its hunger to survive rivals that of mankind.

Am I Dead?: The virus is spreading throughout the United States. It hits fast, and the effects are deadly. The survival of Judas means the end of mankind. The only people who knew the inner workings of the virus are missing and presumed dead. The task of saving the world rests on the shoulders of the newly appointed surgeon general, but he is not ready for the monster stalking humanity.

A Violent World: The sick wander aimlessly with a hunger that is never satisfied. The only hope for humanity lies within the immune. A group of survivors set out to rebuild in spite of the apocalypse, but they learn man is the most dangerous threat when there is no longer law.

Bad Narrative

The story was wonderful, but it needed a more talented narrator. The narrator was not able to fully create believable voices for all the characters. I will definitely look for this narrator in any future books and avoid them.

Great find.

Good book. I don’t write many reviews because who am I to as a non writer to critique someone’s dream but I had to with this book. It has a believable storyline, good variety of characters who we get to know just enough for the storyline to stay steady. Action scenes were just enough to get you there but not long and drawn out to loose you with unbelievable heroics. And the evolution of the Zombies is a different twist to the regular horrid decaying creatures portrayed in other novels .... they’re turning back into “us”.
I would definitely recommend to a Zombie fan.

Never underestimate the virus!

Prepare for an interesting and somewhat unique apocalyptic tale. Mad scientists at large create a virus “to end all wars”. Of course, the virus mutated, creating zombie-like creatures hungry for flesh. The test target for the virus was a small town in North Carolina called Black Dog. Little did we know that the true cause of the test was not the virus itself. What could be so important to justify infecting an entire town? In the meantime, the Army was preparing to eliminate the virus in their usual domineering way. News of a terrible fertilizer factory explosion soon made headlines. The tale must go on! The virus was not contained. Soon, reports of civilians being bitten raise the awareness of certain law enforcement officials. The recent disaster at Black Dog was still fresh in some people’s minds. The mystery and threat of the virus begin all over again. With all the original players from Black Dog dead, the investigation into the virus is extremely complicated. How did the virus escape? How many carriers are there? Where are they? Alarm bells go off from the White House on down. The quest for answers begins again. Three.point.five.

More to come

This is my kind of book or rather I should say box set. I’ve always liked the apocalypse idea, this book takes me away completely there with them I hear it and see it all, and wait for more. Excellent book, narrator was faultless . I would recommend this book in a heartbeat this is great.

Worst apocalypse story ever written

the writers style is bland and mechanical. The plot doesn't seem to be thought out. It stumbles through poor development and deathless vanilla characters. The narrator makes a bad story worse by trying to use different voices for each character. The male characters all sounded like Steve Martin and the women like petulant teen agers. There were no characters likable enough for readers to root for and after half of the first book I just wanted it to end. I suffered through the other two books but they got no better than the first. Waste of time and money.

Didn't like it

If you can handle occasional mispronounced words “raytions, qu air en tined” and inflections at the end of almost every sentence then the narrator isn’t bad. The story is pretty boring and drags on. If your looking for an actual zombie apocalypse story pass this one by.
