Publisher's summary

An unlucky bride..

Riona Grey lives life on her own terms, traveling wherever the next spaceship is flying and doing what she must in order to get by. When her luck turns sour, she finds herself on a bridal ship heading to a marriage ceremony. A planet full of dragon shifters seeking mates wasn’t exactly what she had in mind as a final destination. Just when she thinks things couldn’t possibly get worse, she wakes up months later in an isolation chamber with a sexy, hovering dragon shifter by her side telling her they’re meant to be together…forever.

The impatient groom...

After years of failed marriage attempts at the Breeding Festivals, the gods finally revealed Lord Mirek’s bride…a day too late. Eager to have her, he defied tradition and laid claim. But it is a mistake to go against the gods and his new wife was the one to pay the price of his impatience.

Now almost a year later, his bride is finally waking from her deep sleep. With one look from her, he feels the eagerness to claim her overtaking him once more. Fearful she’ll slip through his grasp once again, he’s hesitant to anger the gods by taking her to his bed too soon. But, how can he resist the one thing that would make his life complete, especially when she looks at him with eyes of a seductress? This is one test he can’t fail, and yet with one of her sweet kisses he knows he may already have lost.

Great Series, love Riona's sass!

I’ve been loving the Dragon Lord series. This is the 8th in the series but I found it could be listened to as a stand alone. Riona Grey is living her life on the edge. She gambles in order to make a living, often on the run from place to place, staying ahead of certain men that she owes. When her sister comes to ask for a favor, Riona can’t say no. By trying to help her sister, Riona finds herself married to a dragon shifter. But a year has passed and she has to decide what she wants. She finds that her life skills are actually helpful to her new family. If she can avoid the trouble that is still following her and if she decides to stay. I found that this book was a more light hearted and fun.

Oh I love the dragon lol

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Great book full of fun, action, betrayal, and more!

What does Melissa Barr bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I thought she was great, nice smooth voice, add too the story

Any additional comments?

Oh so fun And as always well thought out and we'll put together as all the books of miss pillow's that I have read. Come to think of it she is really spoiling me with with how well she writes her story's!
Adventure, romance and science fiction! Yeah ☺ now that I have read all of the Dragon books I guess I'll try the Lord's of the var series but the dragons hate them so much and they made me hate them so now miss pillow has her work cut out to make them hot. Lol since she wrote about them I am thinking she might have! So on to the next book. If you love dragon shifter, alpha males, space romance then this book is for you!

Really Great!!!

Would you listen to The Impatient Lord again? Why?

I would listen to it again if there's a different narrator. She wasn't very good.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I did like Mirek and Riona. I was not sure if I was going to like Riona but I did. She's a survivor & lived independently. She always protected her sister & herself. Now she has Mirek. He's great to her.

Which character – as performed by Melissa Barr – was your favorite?

I really did not enjoy Melissa Barr's narration. Narrator reads very choppy it was very distracting. Her performance was very choppy & it was very distracting. She did not flow in her narration. It was very much like she was reading a script.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the ending!!! It was great to know everyone's status & that Mirek & Riona were going to have their own bundle of joy!!

Any additional comments?

The story is great!!! I really enjoyed it!! I did not like the narration, maybe if it was a different narrator. I wish the Dragon Lords story can go on & on!!!

impatient, but lovable

Loved the story of Mirek and Riona. In the previous book, I didn't really like Riona, but she redeemed herself in this one. She is strong, funny, mischievous and fun loving, keeping Mirek on his toes after scaring him by falling into a coma. Mirek is so lovable and fun, he is so loyal to her, caring for her for months. Loved their banter, their bedroom talk. Loved how the story unfolded and it wasn't predictable, which made the book more exciting. I like that in every book in the series we get to read beyond the HEA ending of the couple from previous books and the further we get into the series the more of the big picture is revealed.
I wasn't sure about Melissa Barr's voice at the beginning, but she drew me into the story with her various voices and enthusiasm. Really enjoyed her telling the story.

A Love Worth Waiting For

What did you love best about The Impatient Lord?

I loved how dedicated Lord Mirek is to Riona while she is in a coma and after she awakens. Mirek fell in love with her the minute he sees her and find his crystal glowing. That love shows in how he does everything he can while she is sleeping.

What did you like best about this story?

Watching how Riona discovers her love for Mirek and overcome her fear of loving someone. She is so so afraid to love and doesn't want to rely on anyone because bad things always happened when she does.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when Riona negotiated with the Lithorian dignitary. It was so funny to hear Mirek's reaction when she declared peace with them and did away with all the formalities so that the negotiations for the Lithorian chocolate was so fast and smooth.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A love worth waiting for

Any additional comments?

The eighth book in the Dragon Lords series is a wonderful conclusion for the Royal family and their kin.

Riona Grey is a gambler. She tries to live her life to the fullest and isn't afraid of taking chances. She feels she must do this because she and her sister are the last of their kind. After her sister interrupts her during the final hand of a game (which she loses), Riona must find a way off the station immediately since she cannot cover the debt and her sister needs her help in getting the the planet of Qurilixian to stop a genocide. After ditching the Federation ship her sister came on, Riona signs them both up with Galaxy Brides since that is the only ship that she can find that is going there. Riona has no intention of being a bride and slips off of the ship before the Breeding Festival begins. Little does she know that trying to avoid the Gods will doesn't stop her from finding a husband.

Lord Mirek is not looking forward to this year's Breeding Festival. He has had so many failed attempts at finding his bride that he has lost hope. The little hope he has is shattered when his crystal doesn't glow. He stays the night on a cliff overlooking the festival grounds morning another unsuccessful festival. The following morning he packs up his camp site and heading down the cliff. As he gets to the bottom, he hears the faint sound of footsteps and decides to follow the sound. He comes upon Riona as she is spying on her sister and instantly feels a connection to her. He cannot believe his luck and doesn't give her a chance to refuse him. He convinces Riona to break his crystal but she cuts herself when it shatters. She starts feeling ill and tries to run while Mirek goes to get her a drink but ends up falling into the "yellow" which puts her into a sleep that she cannot awaken from.

It takes almost a year for Riona to awaken from the sleep. Mirek does everything he can to keep her comfortable and taken care of until she awakens. He is so dedicated to her the entire time she is asleep. Riona has a hard time adjusting to her new life and the changes she sees in her sister. Mirek is there for her the entire time and does everything he can to make her adjustment easier.

This was a wonderful conclusion to a great series. I have completely enjoyed listening to the entire series and would highly recommend this.

Amazing...I love Rionna

Now we finally find out what happened to Rionna. We start like we did in the beginning with Aeron except this time it is from Rionna's Point of View. Rionna dealt with the destruction of her planet a different way and lived her life as fast and exciting as she could for those who could no longer live. After seeing her sister get "married" and carried off by a strange man, Rionna knows she cannot leave her behind and some how ends up married herself.

Mirek is an Ambassador for the Mines, he knows how strange other people find their customs and like his brothers fears he will not find a wife. His crystal did not glow during the ceremony but the next morning he finds her and finishes the ceremony without following all the rules. When Rionna ends up in an allergy coma he blames himself for her condition.

Months pass and all the events we read in the previous three books have come to pass. Finally, Rionna wakes up and immediately thinks she is capture by the Pirate Range. Mirek had been planning his future with Rionna all these months, imagining what she was like from their brief meeting and is disappointed when she is not what he thought her to be. However, he knows that his crystal meant she was the one for him it just hadn't become obvious why. I love seeing the instantaneous spark between them. Melissa Barr helps pull you in to the story and makes the pages fly by.

Impatient Lord :Dragon Lords Book 8

What did you love best about The Impatient Lord?

I love how this book completes the story the four Dragon Lord cousins of the Princes. They are all unique yet the stories are all interwoven with each of the characters. I love how Mirek was able to connect to Riona and see her needs to maintain her independence, and how he was smart enough to realize what a wonderful help to his position of ambassador she could be.

What other book might you compare The Impatient Lord to and why?

Although this book was similar to the other Dtagin Lord stories in its wonderful world building and wonderful characters, it was different because Mirek had to wait so long for Riona to recover and then their story was allowed to unfold.

What about Melissa Barr’s performance did you like?

I thought her voice was pleasant and she portrayed each of the characters well, keeping the listener very involved in the story and not concerned with how the characters sounded. I've enjoyed all the books she has narrated.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Loved that the story wasn't predictable but had a few twists and turns. I thought Riona was a refreshing adventurous independent tamale character who embraced her sexuality and freedom. I loved when she realized how much she really was falling for Mirek and the way they formed a special couple that also worked as a team.

Any additional comments?

A fun, exciting, sexy, romantic read, great addition to an awesome series. Love the mix of scify, romance, paranormal shifters, and the incredible world building.

Fun book

The Impatient Lord is book 8 of the Dragon Lords series by Michelle M. Pillow. It tells the love story of Riona Grey and Dragon shifter
Lord Miroslav (Mirek), Ealdorman of Draig.

Having a bit of bad luck, Riona finds herself and her sister Aeron on the Galaxy Brides ship to become dragon shifters mates. Riona bribes one of the ship crew into allowing her to skip the bridal viewing with plans of boarding another ship after the joining feast. But her sister is picked as a bride. So now she makes plans to save her. Lord Mirek is there trying for the forth time to find a bride and is heart broken again when he does not find one in the amongst the brides. While at the Festival Mirek sees Riona and his crystal glows. The attraction is instantaneous and he knows she is his but they missed the ceremony to be joined so he must go before the queen to be joined. Unfortunately, Riona runs into more bad luck when she has a allergic reaction to a plant resulting in a drug induced coma for several months. Mirek blames himself for her illness. He thinks he is being punished by his god for not waiting and having a proper bridal ceremony.

I loved this book. This series!!! Ms. Pillow has a gift for writing stories that are full of humor, silliness, love, sexy shifters, action, intrigue surprises and so much more. I call her one of my Happy-book writers because reading her books just makes you happy. It leaves you feeling like you just watched a really good romantic comedy. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll curse, you'll cheer.

I so recommend this book. This series!!!
