The Inheritance - A novel of a house haunted by an ancient evil. A tale of lies, envy, and curses spanning generations.

Mike Gray is still reeling from the sudden death of his father when he inherits Willow House, his father’s childhood home. Keen to move out of the city, Mike decides to move his young family to the small, quaint town of Fairview. But not all is right at Willow House. There are dark forces at work, which threaten to destroy what remains of the Gray family. just boring

besides it being set in the U.S. the use of British terms kept pulling me out of the story...which was dull and full of every possible possession trope. I finished it hoping it would get better, but it was just Plain bad in my opinion

WHERE ARE WE?!

British narrator with British terminology (torch, cinema, biscuits), but it’s set in GEORGIA?! As in the state in the US? And they hang out in the summertime outdoors to enjoy the beautiful weather? The story would have been really good, but I kept getting pulled out of the narrative because southerners eat cookies; biscuits go with gravy or jam. I’m not sure why she didn’t just set it in England! It would have been 5/5 stars.

Keeps you on the edge of your seat to the end.

This was a very good suspenseful book. It would have been better written or edited using American English diction vs British English since supposed to have been set in Georgia USA. Too many incorrect references not typical to America. This could have been set in Europe and the words would have fit perfectly.
Our cars have trunks vs boots, we have football fields vs a pitch, mom’s vs mums, etc
Small things just throw you off while listening. We definitely speak differently in the South.

British Story set in Atlanta, Georgia

Overall the story was very good. A little slower paced, which would have helped make it more gripping, if it wasn't so slow. The hardest things to accept were the British narrator trying to speak with an overly emphasized American accent, The Southern accents were way too overdone. And then there is the British words for American items. Torch for flashlight, biscuit for cookie, R A V 4 for RAV4, boot for trunk. I love British stories, and have absolutely no problem with the stories, however if you're going to write an American story, make sure you get it edited by someone who understands the words to make it more believable. I'm sure this story could have been set in Great Britain somewhere and been just as good.

This story kept me interested from start to finish! There was mystery to keep the listener wondering and all questions were answered by the amazing ending!

Story is okay, but…

I really enjoyed the story until terminology used in the UK kept popping up. Every time I heard boot instead of trunk or meters instead of feet it kinda took me out of the story. Is the guy a Brit who moved to America? No, the story clearly spells out his lineage. It is not a huge deal, but still very distracting. If you’re a person from the UK writing as first person American take the time to research the vernacular.

Keeps you engaged for the whole story. The last line is chilling. I will be checking into more stories from the author.

Accent change

Story was decent and I made it all the way to the end. However the British accent of the narrator and the American accent of the character was very distracting. Additionally, several words spoken by the characters in American English were pronounced in a British manner.
