About this listen

Cordelia James was once at the top of her game—a renowned street photographer with a massive social media following, gallery showings in Chelsea, and a lucrative book deal. But after the sudden death of her father, Cordelia can barely force herself to leave her apartment—that is, until she sees an ad for a summer gig at a cozy cottage on Ireland’s picturesque Inishmore island.

Cordelia is on a plane before she can talk herself out of it. The moment she steps off the boat, she crashes—literally—into Niall O’Connor, a grumpy local who’s just returned home to Inishmore from Dublin. Niall is nursing a broken heart and trying to patch up a broken life, and he has no time for posh American tourists. The more Cordelia’s and Niall’s paths cross, the more they make each other’s lives hell. But as with all rivalries, their hatred is about to reach a tipping point—and it’s going to heat up their cool coastal nights.

Featuring a lovable band of quirky supporting characters, The Irish Goodbye is a steamy, emotionally gripping tale of love, passion, art, food, and finding where you belong.

As many stars in the sky I rate this book.

This book is perfect romance, absolutely perfect. The location was so romantic. The people were so romantic, all the people. This needs to be a movie. It was a movie in my head. Not a single negative word from me. Please give me more. Narration was perfection. It was duel narration and fantastic casting.

really funny but narrator was cringe

Completely surprised by this book. First time reading this author and I really enjoyed it. It is a slow burn but definitely gets steamy towards the end. There were moments in the first half of the book where I found both characters really whiny and immature but luckily that seemed to lessen as the story went on. This was the audio version and I have to say that the male narrator made some really weird vocal choices for the old lady in the story. It was like nails on a chalkboard because it sounded like he needed to clear his throat and it was really high pitched. The female narrator did well. I will definitely read from this author again.

Loved the relationship between the two main characters and love the setting.

I did not like when the narrators tried to do other voices other than the main characters.

Beautiful story, unforgettable characters!

Although The Irish Goodbye looks like a standard modern romance, it’s that and so much more! The setting, the Irish island of Inishmore, is as much a character as the fabulous Cordelia and Niall.

Beyond the cute, wonderfully funny, and definitely spicy narrative, there’s a depth to the stories that is unique for books of this type. It’s not just about the meet cute and happily ever after. It’s about unforgettable characters coming together amidst challenging back stories.

This has become one of my new favorite books. I’m recommending it to everyone! As a bonus, the two narrators do a superb job, which only adds to the enjoyment of The Irish Goodbye.

The Perfect Vacation Read

Road trips are the perfect time for sweet romances, and I’m so glad I picked up The Irish Goodbye! Wonderful descriptions of the small town feel of Inishmore with tons of lovable characters (Pocket!!) The narrators brought Cordelia and Niall to brilliant, breathing life and I got super invested in their romance. Ms. deBorahae poured heartfelt, believable emotion into Cordelia’s perspective. Sweet, good fun!

My first Complete Audible Book

This is my first time finishing a book by only listening. I enjoyed this story from start to finish. So much humor, literally lol. Enjoyed the overall plot, good spice toward the end of the book and I liked the Irish accents. Highly recommend!
