Publisher's summary

In the 27th century, international disputes are resolved through time travel, “clocking” soldiers from the future into conflicts of the past. It seemed like an elegant idea: Wartime industries drove the economy without actually putting nations through the physical ravages of war. And since the past already happened, history could not be changed. So went the theory. What could possibly go wrong?

Lucas Priest found out the hard way. Enlisting in the US Army Temporal Corps seemed like an adventure compared to his boring corporate job, but after marching with the Roman legions against Hannibal, fighting Custer’s 7th Cavalry with Crazy Horse, and raiding with Attila’s savage Huns, he could have used a little boredom. And it was about to get much worse.

History, it turned out, could be changed, and a plot to kidnap and impersonate King Richard the Lion-hearted was discovered barely in the nick of time. But could it be stopped before a madman changed the course of history? Two elite commando teams had tried and failed in their attempts. Now, Priest was drafted to take part in a third.

The team was tasked to infiltrate the past with impersonations of their own to prevent a timestream split. But it would be hard enough passing themselves off as Sir Ivanhoe, Robin Hood, and Little John without having to assassinate a king!

Finally!!! Where’d the next book?

After requesting this series from Audible for years, this was a thrill! Didn’t take long to get lost in the world of Time Wars yet again. One of my top three favorite series and everyone I’ve shared it with has become hooked. Next book now!

Happy to find Book One in this series - Book Two?

Happy to find the first book in the series here on Audible, and would certainly appreciate it if the sequels were to become available as well. From what I read a few months ago, Book 2 (The Timekeeper Conspiracy) was allegedly in the process of being recorded/narrated back in 2020, but perhaps the market isn't there to continue with the series? Fingers crossed for Book 2 and beyond!!

Love the time travel premise!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series (as read by me) and liked hearing/reliving it in audible format. I hope the rest of the series will be coming along soon.

Finally! With exceptions...

I have been searching for audio books for this for a long time. I read the series many years ago and have been wanting to revisit it. Please add more of the series to your catalog. So far it is well read. ( Still listening) I still remember trying to keep history, as we know it, and potential paradox straight. It makes me hope time travel will never be possible.

Oh no!! Explain to me why the reader turned Finn into a beefy, retired surfer? And the accents? Lighten up on trying for a thick British or French accents. They aren't believable. Was there communication between the writer and reader about what the characters are supposed to sound like? Eek! I'm still going to finish listening to this book because I have waited for it for too long. If more of the series is read for Audible please adjust how some of the characters sound. I don't think it would be wrong to take it easy on the accents. Isn't it the story we want to hear and not whether the reader can do a decent accent? When Mr. Jackson just reads the story and uses emotion and timing he reads very well. Lighter use of accents and it would be much better.

Great stuff

Hawke takes the classics and spins a great Sci-Fi story involving Time Travel. Well worth reading.

This was my favorite series of books growing up. I was excited when I saw this as an audio book. Now we just need to get the rest of the series in audio format so I can complete my collection!

Amazing find, great narration!

I read this years ago - never thought an audio book would come out. Amazing story, looking forward to finding more in the series. Keith Jackson did a fantastic job with the narration, really captured the feel of the story. I actually liked the audio book better than the print version - more time to contemplate the ideas, characters and story. Highly recommended!
