Terrifying!

Jobs at a mortuary should not be taken lightly, there are always consequences but when ex-con Jimmy Myer transports the now-deceased psychic, he encounters a mythical dog called Molossus, that promises great wealth. The wealth comes cheap – just a violent death! What could go wrong?

The author, Joe Lyon, weaves a masterful tale of horror from an action that is simple and shouldn’t be overly complex or threatening – moving bodies of the deceased – and he takes that simple act and twists it into something truly horrifying! The blending of the supernatural, mythology, and basic actions surrounding death makes for an intriguing and engaging storyline. He takes his time developing his characters and does so efficiently and effectively. Lyon knows how to hook listeners and keep them hooked!

The narrator, Victor Warren delivers a solid performance providing a unique voice for each character. He seamlessly flows from one character to another bringing each to life. His tone is at the appropriate level for projecting a variety of emotions, passion, and curiosity to keep the story flowing smoothly. He speaks clearly and with a steady delivery.

Overall, this is a captivating story that will linger and haunt you well past the ending.

Amazing performance

I am not usually one for horror stories but I happened upon this and was intrigued by the quality of voices that the reader used. He brought the story to life in a way that we could easily visualize it. Several times both my husband and I referred to it as our ‘movie”. Would recommend this to anyone!

A Well written and excellently performed paranormal story

The Molossus of Old Man Moyer is a dark, atmospheric, captivating, and spooky read from award-winning American author Joe Lyon. It tells the story of ex-con Jimmy Myer, who works for a mortuary service and transports the corpse of a famous psychic to its final destination. But his journey takes a horrific turn when he crosses paths with the Molossus, a mythical dog that grants immense wealth at the price of a violent death. Jimmy soon finds himself in a deadly chase with a psychopathic billionaire, the current host of the dog, who wants to escape the curse.

What starts as a paranormal tale of restless souls becomes a gothic mystery with enigmatic mediums, relentless detectives, and ghostly witnesses.

The audiobook version of The Molossus of Old Man Moyer is superbly narrated by Victor Warren, a director, actor, writer, and producer. The audio quality is excellent and the story is engrossing as Warren brings the characters, settings, and events to life with skill, emotion, and passion. He is a talented voice actor and a perfect fit for this Gothic horror.

If you are a fan of well-written horror stories, The Molossus of Old Man Moyer is a perfectly terrifying treat for this spooky season that I highly recommend.

Check it out as it reminded me of some of the works by Stephen King, Dean Koontz, or Neil Gaiman, and trust me, I don’t drop those names easily. I enjoyed it very much and I will be looking forward to more from this promising author.

A Chilling Horror Ride Full of Twists and Turns

This is not your everyday horror novel. When Death Has a Steering Wheel, No Road is Safe…
The Molossus of Old Man Moyer puts you in the driver's seat of the Death Mobile, a hearse helmed by ex-con Jimmy Myer, as he embarks on a journey where the realms of the living, the dead, and the ancient gods coalesce.
With themes of mythology, spirituality, and an exploration of age-old death practices, it's a literary whirlwind that will keep you riveted from the first page to the last.

Embark on a bone-chilling journey where a regular job of transporting a dead body takes an unexpected detour into the unknown. You'll join Jimmy as he unravels the mysteries surrounding Belky, the last Molossus, an extinct breed of dog, and his bond with the eccentric Colman Moyer, otherwise known as Old Man Moyer. Together they'll face an array of supernatural old hosts, a centuries-old plot tied to the downfall of the Roman Empire, and the captivating power of ancient gods.

I really enjoyed the narrator, Victor Warren, who brings the different characters to life in a believable and authentic way.

I was so looking forward to listening to this novel. However, the story seems somewhat convoluted to me, a bit too complicated and difficult to follow without real effort on my part. No doubt, others will disagree with me.
