Publisher's summary

Tarzan had renounced his right to the woman he loved, and civilization held no pleasure for him. After a brief and harrowing period among men, he turned back to the African jungle where he had grown to manhood. It was there he first heard of Opar, the city of gold, left over from fabled Atlantis. It was a city of hideous men - and of beautiful, savage women, over whom reigned La, high priestess of the Flaming God. Its altars were stained with the blood of many sacrifices. Unheeding of the dangers, Tarzan led a band of savage warriors toward the ancient crypts and the more ancient evil of Opar.

cheesy

Decent performance, love that this is the story that introduces Opar but overall it's a very cheesy 3 country fight between Tarzan and a stereotypical Russian baddy

Great stories by Burrogs

The stories of Tarzan I have been reading for over 50 years over and over and have always enjoyed them. And if you read them and think they are showing that white men were showing that they thought that they were superior to all other men on earth you have to think about the history of the time that they were written for it was close to the time of World War 1 and that was pretty much the way life was going on at that time. But the stories were telling you pretty much that people enjoyed the basics of the stories.

Legendary Legacy

I grew up with these stories but had never actually read them. The performance is fabulous and the stories still resound with action, romance and adventure. Truly a timeless classic.

An epic adventure

A wonderful conclusion to, and much better than Tarzan of the Apes.

Even judged alone this is an exciting and fun tale.

Quite an adventure and fun to listen to.

A good friend friend, suggested that I listen to the Burroughs series of Tarzan adventures. He said they were extremely well written and hold your attention. I agree fully. I’m a huge Craig Johnson, Daniel Silva, Dashiell Hammett, Robert Ludlum and many more authors of this genre.

Tarzan!

I read my first Tarzan book when I was 10 yrs old and I was hooked! Since then I have read every Tarzan story I could find, now I can listen to them all anew! Tarzan for me is the first superhero. Edgar Rice Burroughs (ERB) fanned the flames of my passion for reading and gave me that sense of adventure that is still with me today! I found Robert Whitfield did a great job in bringing it to life. I would recommend everyone young and old to read Tarzan and let yourself get lost in his wonderful adventures!

Whitfield read wonderfully well!

The story approximates special effects in film. Some Characters are underdeveloped by ERB, author, sadly.
