A strong case againts extremism in all it's forms

The author has some great insights about how social media and other platforms have had a polarizing impact on society, and how implementing the “Ruby Rule” could help us learn to understand and get along with those who think differently. This is an idea whose time has come.

Great stories with great messages

This book hit my inbox at the most appropriate time, the messages that I really gained from it were to pay attention to the times when I am most instantly certain of the way that I think. It's gotten me in a lot of trouble, to misunderstand, then dig in my heels.. The next point I really gained was stepping into another shoes. I used to believe that I really understood how the other person felt, and this book made me take another look from another angle and I'll definitely do more to take a look at the other person holistically. Lastly, just the title the ruby rule was intriguing and I found it to be a good philosophy in life. I highly recommend this read, good life lessons from a great story teller

Relevant and much needed

I love the idea of The Ruby Rule. There is so much discord and arguing in the world today. I’ll admit I may have to start at the platinum rule for some people, but if we all could take the insights this book offers and just apply them to small aspects of our lives we would see big changes. Well written, with relevant and entertaining stories, The Ruby Rule is very relevant and very needed.

A welcome and inspiring read

How refreshing to read a book promoting learning over instant certainty, civil discourse over vitriol, love over hate. In our polemic world, where we are continually pressured to buy into any and every opinion the loudest contingent holds or be excoriated, cancelled, or even physically harmed, Coombs’ call for listening to understand, agreeing that it is OK to disagree, and seeking common ground upon which to build a foundation of humanity is so welcome and needed. As per usual, his points are well illustrated with research as well as personal anecdotes and engaging stories. I recommend this book – it has inspired me and given me tools to carry forth on that inspiration.

Should be required reading

This makes very good points, is very simply put and should be required for people to read. Most of us are blasted everday by social media and news casts that are thriving on extremism. With so much volitility today with so many things, especially politics, it gives us a chance to better appreciate each other if we just take the time to understand and filter what is mostly overhyped information.

The People of America NEED This Book Right Now!

In typical Art Coombs fashion this book is filled w/ stories that tie into great content. This book is what we need in the world right now. Treating people better than they expect especially when we don't agree is something we can all be better at. This book dives in and gives great examples through stories and data that shows how this can be done, and helps us all to learn how to have the "conversations" respectfully to find common ground and get along! This is one of those books that I will pass along to co-workers and friends. Great Book!
