About this listen

With the Heart of Alchemy in place, the Immortality Engine is complete. Now, all Otto needs is to learn how to use it.

The secret to immortality can be found in only one place: the Sanguine Scroll.

Written by the first and greatest Arcane Lord Amet Sur, the scroll services as a manual for the engine among other things.

But Otto isn’t the only one seeking the scroll.

The race is on to see who will claim its secrets first.

just finished the story and it's ok

overall the story is fun, the main problem is that the writing and word choice are very simplistic. there is some good emotional growth from some of the characters but again the logic and choices are often very weakly justified.

on the whole I'd recommend it.

nteresting conclusion to this phase of the story

uninteresting swords and sorcery series well worth a read lots of plot twists and some character development...
good and evil are clouded among the characters.... the author does have a whole new direction if he wants to take it or he can leave it alone for a while.... there's the future of his wife a child-sired in wedlock... a vast empire that suddenly is far apart do they develop a Navy do they develop an army whose new role is the protection of commerce... do some of the older characters die off or are they renewed by the life-giving machine...
are there new characters further development of some interesting side characters... I could see a whole new series of books if the author hasn't been burned out... the audio performance was good

I enjoy parts of this series

(possible spoilers) I like some concepts of this series. However I feel like I was let down for the main story arc. I would have liked to see what would have happened had the main character actually achieved them. So I feel rather let down by that.

Meh

A bit of a letdown compared to the previous books in the series. If this is the end, I feel I have wasted money and time on the series. Hopefully, there is another book or 2

Another great one

This series is coming together for a fantastic conclusion. The world building and character development has been great. If you’re looking fir an escape, then look no further.

A huge disappointment

This book was stuffed with filler. I couldn't even finish it. it took almost half of the book for the main character to even show up. This book, and the one before it were huge letdowns.

so much filler

over half the book is side characters that dont add to the story. not sure I'll continue this series.

Ultimately disappointing.

The ending felt rushed even though the beginning took its sweet time to get the ball rolling. after about an hour of seeing what his enemies and random characters are doing to mess up Otto's plans does he finally come into play. At first I thought it was going to set up for a great final book sort of like how the first book ended right before the war kicked off in true form. but then it all just sorta happened in a kind of mundane way. very disappointing after some relatively good books before it. still read it of course since I'm quite sure its the final book but just know it's probably not what you wanted for the end. and if its not the final book then thats great, but still a disappointing entry.
