About this listen

We are a diminishing group of men and women whose amazing experience actually resembles the incredible experience described in the original “Big Book.” To show other alcoholics, through the heavy use of sarcasm, precisely how far away from that message we have strayed is the main purpose of this book. For them, we hope these chapters will effectively point out the absolute ridiculousness of much of what is commonly spoken, taught, and accepted in the world of recovery today, thus inspiring a reevaluation of the actual “Big Book”. What is written here may be found offensive to some. And maybe it should be - because this book contain nothing but a sadly accurate description of exactly what has been constantly reflected back to its author for several decades.

I have been around AA since 1987. This story is so perfectly told. Thank you! Thank you!

Fun

This is a fun book. It made me chuckle as I saw myself in it in my less-than-perfect moments.

funny and helpful

Validated a lot of things that I've thought and think. But also keeps me from feeling guilty about the things that this book calls me out on and reminds me to go straight to the real big book.

Not for the faint of heart or the overly sensitive

This is my first audio book, was it me or did he fart in chapter 4? LOL! I loved this book! I could totally relate not only to myself, but to most of the sponsors that I have had over the years. Tough love is not the only love that should be used.

I think that this book shouldn't be read by anyone with a "holier-than-thou" program or by the overly sensitive which I was when I first got sober, but I also feel that this is a MUST READ for a reality check. I listened to the whole book (it wasn't that long, at least, not nearly as long as the original Big Book) and I enjoyed every minute of it. Narration was great although some may think that he's boring. Kept a narcoleptic like me awake! I highly recommend it for a lighter side of the program and a good laugh or two.

Absolutely loved it!!!

It makes that much more funnier once you’ve actually gone through the big book. However, it’s still funny book!😂😂😂

I Work In Recovery, Spot On!!

I absolutely love this book! So many people are so turned off by 12 step recovery because of the mass amount of people who truly do behave this way. If you're a hardcore 12 stepper with no sense of humor this book is not for you. If you are a hardcore 12 stepper that has a firm grasp on reality and human nature who wants a good laugh, don't pass this up!

A truthful look at AA

I have been part of AA for about a year and a half and find find this book right on. In the short amount of my involvement I have experienced so much of what was mentioned especially as related to sponsorship. Thank you.

If Clay F were a women I would ask him to be my sponsor

Parts of this book were quite funny and some just hit me on such a deep level. Particularly the parts about sponsorship. I enjoyed this booklet and would recommend it to others. It’s not for everybody.

what a relief

I'm not sure this is thoroughly sarcasm, for the most part this mirrors my experience. this book puts in words what has been my thinking for so long. I have enjoyed this read. I recommend it to anybody who's worked the steps, for 20 years in AA, as I have. fresh!
