Publisher's summary

Banished Sheikh Malid Adjalane has no interest in returning to the family business under the watchful eye of his controlling father. But if Malid doesn't agree to take on a tough deal, he won't be allowed into the palace to see his dying mother. With no other choice, Malid finds himself deep in negotiations with the largest oil producer in the world. He expected hard work, but he never could have prepared himself for the gorgeous, ambitious woman on the other end of this business deal. Nigella Michaels works hard for her father's oil company, but she still has a lot to prove. It's a masculine industry, and with her dad about to retire, this deal could be just what she needs to show him once and for all that she's the right person to continue his legacy. She's always worked well with others, and this should be no exception. But not even her meticulous research could have prepared Nigella for the instant attraction she has with Malid. After so many years on his own, it won't be easy for Malid to put up with his father's terms. But with Nigella's help, perhaps they'll both learn to balance the weight of their family with their own desires.

Unrealistic* But Go With It (*See below)

*Behavior in Strict Mid East country-toward women/dating is unrealistic

Leslie North treats us to an Arabian tale – here are a few of my thoughts.

Nigella is negotiating a business deal between her family & Ali family.
Malid has lots of problems of his own including a sick mother – whose overbearing father will not allow him to see.

There is an unbelievable (because of the Middle East culture toward women) but sweet date and relationship beginning in the desert – alone. The author creates some intimate scenes (not crude or graphic.)

Will the Sheikh be able to overcome the personal & professional challenges that pop up? Will Nigella seen as more than "a little girl" in her father's eyes as she negotiates? Will this unlikely pairing from two people from polar opposite societies?

This was very sweet and I enjoyed the descriptions of Malid and his homeland, the danger of sandstorms, foods, etc.

I felt that I may be at a bit of a disadvantage in enjoying the full story because I was introduced to the series at book number three. The last 45 minutes were spent addressing issues from what I guess would be books #1 and/or #2.

Nicholas Thurkettle is a new to me narrator. I enjoyed his performance.

This contemporary romance falls right in between the two categories of "innocent" romance and the more "erotic" romances. Hopefully that will help in deciding.

I received this book in exchange for my unbiased review. I hope that you will consider following me on audible and select yes below to the question "did you find this review helpful?" Thanks for taking the time to read it.

Good

I got this ARC via audiobook boom. I like this series. this is the story of the oldest son who was banished and the daughter of a Texas oil company who is trying to prove she can run the company. Both fathers are controlling and manipulative. Yet both love their children. I like the twist the story took. I am still not sure about a story that has the H/h jumping into bed on the first meeting and then falling in love but such is life. The narrator was perfect for the story and moved the story along seamlessly.

Enjoyable, Heartwarming Story

I enjoyed listening to this story, it had a bit of everything, the prodigal son, the manipulative father, or in this case fathers! A daughter out to prove herself and so much more. It was an enjoyable story with some very good characters and some super steamy chemistry.

The descriptive writing made for a great escape from a dreary, rainy summer day her in the UK! I could almost taste the food and feel the heat and the sand.

Great Contemporary Romance

I have enjoyed several books by Leslie North and this one is no exception. She is a very talented writer and I really enjoy her writing style. Her stories are fresh, fun, and captivating. They are on the short side but I enjoy every second of it. I also love this story's picture. Really gorgeous cover.

The narrator did an outstanding job bringing the story to life. I loved his great narration and multiple voices.

The characters are well developed and smart. The story flows at a great pace and it was hard to put it down. I loved everything about it.

I'm looking forward to reading the first two books from this series. There are no cliffhangers and this book can be read as standalone. Sweet HEA conclusion!
