About this listen

"Stephen King never stops giving us his all" (Chicago Tribune) in this number-one national best seller about the idyllic small town of Haven, Maine, and its encounter with a deadly evil out for a diabolical invasion of body, soul - and mind.

Writer Bobbi Anderson becomes obsessed with digging up something she's found buried in the woods near her home. With the help of her friend, Jim Gardener, she uncovers an alien spaceship. Though exposure to the Tommyknockers, who piloted the alien ship, has harmful effects on residents' health, the people of Haven develop a talent for creating innovative devices under their increasingly malignant influence.

In this riveting, nightmarish story, Stephen King has given us a "brilliant, riveting, marvelous" (The Boston Globe) novel. "You will not be able to put this down" (Los Angeles Times Book Review). And the next time someone raps at your door, you may want to keep the chain on. It just might be the Tommyknocker Man.

Voice actor on point

Edward Herrmann gives an amazing performance of this story. I give the whole book a full listen about once a year because I enjoy the voice acting (and story, obviously) so much.

A great place to start

I was astonished to see this wasn't one of the most popular Stephen King novels. I decided two months ago to dive into Stephen King and HP Lovecraft. This was the beginning of the binge and it set the perfect tone. The build up was long and enticing. It went exactly where I wanted it to and took great lengths to build every single character that deserved it; which was many. Very grateful I started my adventure with Tommyknockers 😊

Sci-fi at its best

I had no idea what this story was about when it began. I figured ‘Stephen King = Horror’. This was a trip. Not really horror, but horrifying. Well written, and engaging. I throughly enjoyed this one.

Wow.... what a ride

I consider my self a Stephen King novice with only several books under my belt. I was initially nervous about choosing this book due where it was on must read lists of King (it was usually right at the end). You could say I was ‘drawn’ to it .... lol. Anyway, the character development here is what sets the tone and allows tension so slowly build and then take off. I listened to this book in my office and definitely made some odd expressions or even noises at crazy moments. I couldn’t listen to the book at night sometimes but needed to know more at the same time. I think this was a great story and wild ride from start to finish.

Like cenobites? check this book out!

This is a lengthy, atmospheric title with a slow burn. Well worth it. One of my favorites from the King!

Great performance... enjoyed immensely . I really liked the characters and even the characters that were only in the story for a few chapters

Small Town ....Big Problems

I love when King weaves such intricate stories into a sprawling tale that's encapsulated into one small town
