About this listen
Then suddenly the phone rings, and it turns out to be a case he can't refuse. A case for the life of accused killer Peter Thomason, and a case for his own soul.
With a style reminiscent of John Grisham and Frank Peretti, Robert Whitlow has mastered the art of legal suspense novels. The book edition has earned the prestigious Christy Award.

Story
David Cobb is not a typical lawyer--he's more interested in dispensing God's wisdom than pertinent legal advice. High-stakes litigation is way outside his comfort zone. For many years, Zeke Caldwell has been concocting home remedies made from natural ingredients found in the coastal marshes near Wilmington, North Carolina. One of his remedies proved so effective that he patented it with the help of David's father. Now he suspects a big drug company has stolen his formula. best one ever!
I enjoyed The Trial even more than the other 4 of Mr. Whitlow's books I've read. The only problem was that the musical interludes at the end and beginning of each chapter were distracting and annoying. The ending was a partial surprise. The spiritual journey of the two main characters was beautiful. I felt like I was not only part of that but the author took me so inside the storyline that I saw the events unfold as though I was there in person. I highly recommend The Trial

Impacting! Was blown away by this true story!
Where does The Trial rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
At the top of my list!
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Trial?
This story was all memorable. I felt I was there. I did not find out that this story was based on a true historical person and account until AFTER I finished. This made the story more incredible!
Have you listened to any of Rob Lamont’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Rob Lamont gave a beautiful performance. Each character was powerful.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
At times this books graphics descriptions were almost to much. But I had to keep going to the end. The story is that good!

Good Story with Holes
Having started the story with the actual book, when we started listening to this performance, it was quickly apparent that much of the actual book was edited out of the performance. We liked the performer's voice and performance of what was not edited, but we're irritated by having some of what the author thought was necessary cut. We continued to listen sometimes and stop and fill in the spots that were skipped with the book. Sometimes I just read from the book and fast forwarded when it was after dark and we were in the car, but the hole, sometimes whole scenes and sometimes a half or a full page were annoying.

Remove the Annoying Music between chapters!
As always, I genuinely enjoyed the story. Robert Whitlow is one of my favorite authors! The narrator was excellent! The only reason that I did not give it 5 stars all the way was due to the annoying music between chapters. I often will go to sleep using the timer function in the app. I would be asleep and the book would change chapters and it would startle me awake! Not good! Remove the annoying sounds of transitioning between chapters and I'll go to 5 stars!

The suspense is real. The depth of the characters. Easy way Whitlow reflects God’s truth without it interfering with a good plot. Interesting and uplifting. Not a goody goody book but a real book.

Delivers
Whitlow does a great job developing the characters and their relationships with one another throughout his novel. There was enough suspense and romance to keep my attention. I liked the tender ending. Just a reminder for those who had problems with the Scriptural content and religious influence…the book is listed in the “religious/Christianity” section of audible.
