Publisher's summary

They lied, they lie, they will lie. This world is built on deception.

The struggle for power in the detachment has begun. The parties and their leaders have been determined. The goal is power; the means are anything it takes.

Our hero seems to have a couple of trump cards, but everyone is full of surprises in this world, both the Reaper and the shabby newcomer...

rough starting but still interesting

if you can adapt to the reading style, the story opens up to an interesting and gripping story of twists, hills, and valleys.

Wow I might like the series this book is completely filler between the first and third books I do like it though and I will continue to read it

the first book was so much better and longer

the author decided to get a little confusing in this book. the entire time the main character is in his head. I don't understand why he didn't make it more of an adventure and more of a cerebral book. I'm disappointed and won't listen to the third one.

LitRPG: A slippery eel. Can’t wait for more.

Once you think you have an idea how you think the STAT systems works things rotate 90 degrees… which I don’t mind. I think the Authors we’re trying to figure out how to continue the success they had with the first book and had to make a few tweaked to continue the storyline.

I’m really enjoying the story and the difference in writing styles between US and Russian writers, and how they come about similar thing in such different prospectives.

I wish this installment would have been a bit longer. I am very much enjoying the extra prospective put at the end of the book by different characters… it doesn’t interpret the main storyline yet fills in some gaps you may have not realized needed expanding on.

Another Great Addition

Can't wait for the next one though this one was much shorter unfortunately. Hopefully the next will be longer

Flat and boring

Flat lifeless prose kept me from giving a damn. The characters are far too busy telling me how they are feeling rather then letting me in. The world is confusing and lifeless as well. The narrator is okay but left with emotionally empty writing.

it's ok, but it's also free with membership so.

So the author has a base for their story but decides to toss in so much other stuff to try and make it more complicated. You can have intrigue and mystery without so much information, I think they just need to focus on a few aspects and twist those up not randomly toss in new people and immediately make twist and turns for the character.
The references to how "Everyone is bad, everyone is a murderer who will do evil things" but based on his story alone it's not so black and white, he was forced by the majority to crawl through a hole that everyone thought would kill him.
They also set up how their like 20 something people is a large settlement and separate into factions, it makes sense because even 1 immortal being is a force in itself but then after establishing these factions they immediately kill their follower off permanently.
The book isn't awful and I think they have a goal with the story I just think they need a lil more focus, Narrow it down to a main goal and a 2-3 sides and work on those not toss more in.
