About this listen

Twisted Briar is Peggy's fortieth novel; her forty-fifth book. Each book resonates with Peggy's authentic Appalachian mountain voice and her gift to engross the reader in the story.
From Chapter 2 :
He was looking for another woman and boy. The young woman stopped and looked at the crowd as though she didn't know what direction to go in. She looked so lost and scared he felt sorry for her. Not only that, she was just a girl. She couldn't be a whole lot older than the frail little boy whose hand she had a tight grip on. One thing was for sure, the ragged clothes they wore wouldn't keep them warm in this weather. Suddenly, a new kind of chill ran up his spine. What if. Surely not.
Also from Chapter 2:
“Kelly Waller?” he asked in a clipped, low tone of voice.
“Yes,” she whispered, as she looked him over again. This couldn't possibly be Jard Woods. He certainly was much younger than she expected, and he certainly didn't have a thick beard or mustache. Could this be someone sent to pick her and Adam up? He did have dark almost black eyes glowing with, what she thought was, barely contained anger.
“Follow me,” he said, as he reached down and took the paper poke from her hand. She bent down and lifted Adam into her arms to keep him from having to walk in the deep snow.

The story

I enjoyed every second of the story-beautifully written as all Peggy Poe Sterns books are. I was very disappointed in the narration being done by AI. Many of the words were mispronounced which really affected the flow of the reading and spoiled the charm of Peggy’s writing as she writes to allow the reader to hear the Appalachian accents in the words. Would have been so much more enjoyable having a person narrate the story!
