NOWHERE IS SAFE.

The survivors of Little Creek hope that salvation awaits them at Keystone, but it quickly becomes apparent that things are not as they seem.

As Len, Vera and Guppie grapple with the new reality on the base, Pammy and Cooper join forces with a sympathetic soldier to take the fight to the Clankers.

An unexpected lesson from an unlikely source might be the key to human survival.

But there is a greater enemy than even the Clankers afoot, and it will take all their ingenuity — and a little luck — to survive this time.

And time is running out.

The War of the Worlds gets turbocharged in this nonstop action-packed thriller about a group of survivors thrust into extraordinary circumstances.

Infighting

The struggle of people against aliens should have been an obvious ‘us vs. them.’ Most of the story was ‘us vs. us.’ It was gory and violent but strangely enthralling. The end was unexpected. I’m going to look forward to the sequel.

Very Unexpected

Well this went a different way then I expected and that makes the story more interesting one of our little band of survivors gets a huge promotion through combat by doing the unexpected and leaves her allies wondering if she is going to be able to handle the strain. And we learn more about government treachery. And a look around the world at an unexpected young man made a king and his keeping his people alive and the enemy on the from advancing. I have enjoyed this story it is nice to see a little different take on the Alien invasion story.

Wonderful

The audio version of this book is much better than the e-book I read. I’m not not sure why, but I enjoyed it more. Full action, suspension intrigue, deceit and treachery was a great storyline.

Disappointing book 2

I have listened to the first two books in this series, The first was a common trope for science fiction about cosmic invaders and how Earth survivors cope. The characters were interesting, and their situations somewhat unusual. The narrator did a good job of enhancing a relatively lackluster story.

In this seond book, howeve, things change. The storyline reverts back to the old storyline of the crazy military who does not care about the civilians, so not the characters must fight the military and the invaders almost become secondary. I stuck with this until towards the end. Len, one of the main characters, suddenly chenged about two hours before the end of this book. The narrator changed his voice. Len was apparently from Nigeria. We don't know if he was native of Niigeria or had American parents, but the change in voice dropped an octave and his manner became more stilted and less sure.

Pammy Mays' transition, however, was so far beyond the ability to suspect disbelief thatthe story was no longer coherent or made sense. I can see the foreshawing the author is putting in place for the future books, but the story is no longer of interest to me.
