About this listen

12,090 A.D.

It is a dark time for the world. Humanity is just crawling out from under 300 years of domination by the race of vampires known as the Nobility. The war against the vampires has taken its toll; cities lie in ruin, the countryside is fragmented into small villages and fiefdoms that still struggle against nightly raids by the fallen vampires - and the remnants of their genetically manufactured demons and werewolves.

Every village wants a Hunter - one of the warriors who have pledged their laser guns and their swords to the eradication of the Nobility. But some Hunters are better than others, and some bring their own kind of danger with them….

Enter D - a lone, mysterious vampire hunter, sought out by the desperate Doris Lang. Bitten by the vampire lord Count Lee, Doris is destined to her unholy fate.... Can D deliver her from her curse and bring her to salvation, or will she forever be part of the unholy dead?

Adapted from the novel and produced with a full cast of actors, immersive sound effects and cinematic music! From creator Hideyuki Kikuchi, one of Japan's leading horror authors.

Performed by Scott McCormick, David Cui Cui, Laura C. Harris, Ryan Carlo Dalusung, Eric Singdahlsen, Rob McFadyen, Amanda Forstrom, Jenna Sharpe, Peter Holdway, Terence Aselford, Eric Messner, Michael John Casey, Ken Jackson, Kay Eluvian, Megan Poppy, Jillian Levine-Sisson, James J. better than the manga maybe

what I really enjoyed was that not only was this accurate to the manga but it was also done in a high quality way which gave more detail than I remember ...or things I just didn't pick up on through subtext

Like the anime and then some

I always wanted to read the original novels but these dramatize adaptations are pretty awesome. The sound effects helps with visualizations. Looks like I’m gonna build my Vampire Hunter D library

Amazing

I almost didn’t get this book because I had read some lame reviews but I’m so glad I bought it. Voice acting and sound effects were amazing! Voice for vampire Hunter do you sound like one of my favorite famous anime voice actors. Great performance from all of the characters just bought vol. 3 demon death chase because I like this one so much! Bravo

old but still good.

I've been a big fan of vampire Hunter d since I was a kid when I watched the first animated film back on the very first year of the Sci-Fi channel back in there early 90s heard of the books that it came from never actually had a chance to find one but then I remembered and I checked and it happened to be on audible and I'm surprised how much different the short animated film could have been and I think it would have told a better story too but it was good for where the time and the book was very well written the narration and the actors voicing the characters did an amazing job thank you so much

Pretty good.

Narrator sounded like he had a stuffy nose, or slightly out of breathe. Everyone else's performance was great. Good story.

Wonderful trip down nostalgia lane

Everything about the audio play was splendid. My only annoyance was in the first chapter. The background music distracted me from the narrator. This distraction faded away eventually and I became fully immersed.

Better than the anime

Oddly enough, the audiobook was much better than the anime adaptation of the early 90s late 80s. The story was almost the same but it made more sense than the anime. The actors voicing the characters did a good job, and I must say I rather enjoy the way the story was unfolded on this version. It’s worth the token or money, you won’t regret it.
