American culture does not accept that there is a spiritual component to life. Sometimes there is a generic acknowledgement. This was a reminder of the reality of that Spiritual component.

I have been a fan of John Eldridge books for years and picked this one up a while ago. Oh boy was this just what I needed at the right time. I appreciate how open and transparent a look into his like this is. He struggles, stumbles through temptation and feelings and models recovery and restoration of daily walking with God. This book has been encouraging, inspiring and challenging as the Holy Spirit stirred inside me where I to struggle. Highly recommend this book to anyone who loves God and wants to walk with him daily and not just a n weekends.

The first third of this book changed my walk with Christ. The idea that the Lord wants me to feel joy was life-changing for me. His yoke is light and yet, before reading this book, I felt I served him best by running myself to the ground, living on five hours of sleep and feeling inadequate for not doing more. My common mantra now is "You can't take my joy, Devil." Definitely a recommended read for folks who overdrive themselves.

I enjoyed the content very much, but I was annoyed with how the audio chapters were segmented. I think that either the audio publisher or Audible, along with the author restructure the audio book chapters.

This book has helped me to walk with God practically and daily. John's voice is soothing and he has become my favorite author.

This book can be hard to listen to. Not because of the writing or the narration. It can be a hard realization that you haven't been walking with God. It can be hard to realize just how much of the spiritual war you have been blind to. It is well worth your time and money. I found it to be a profound and important message on many things.

I appreciate John’s examples of how to pray about specific situations. This gives me a idea of what to incorporate in my own prayers. So far I have not been very successful with listening prayer. I’m a work in progress.
