Weirdly good

mystery, women-sleuths, great-fun

Addison Holmes and her cronies are just too much fun! There is lots of situational and verbal humor, interesting characters, and a real plot. Great light reading.
Connie Ventress is an excellent audio interpreter.

OMG!!!

What made the experience of listening to Whiskey Sour the most enjoyable?

The fact that it's the man's sexy image description that's given throughout the story!

A female author In this genre actually giving us the feel from the female point of view in

regards to her attraction, feelings, wants and needs of a man.

Usually have to suffer through how hot, perfect, blah, blah, blah the female is. So, I

appreciate this story more that the focus is on the man. And a sexy man!

What other book might you compare Whiskey Sour to and why?

REAL by Katy Evans

This is the first romance action/ suspense/thriller/drama I've read that had the pov of the
woman towards the man. I don't even know how to explain it but...

If you are a straight woman who has no problem drooling over a good looking man, this
story will not disappoint. Each deliciously creative word towards the sexy visual image of
Remy had me weeping with want for him and his feelings for what's-her-name (soooo didn't deserve him!!!) seriously had me wishing it was me he wanted. Thank goodness for imaginations!

So far the entire Whiskey series has come so d@mn close to taking the number 1 position
of sexy drama filled stories in my heart. I will admit I love Addison to the core and wish she
was the female lead in REAL!!!

What does Connie Ventress bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Wow! Talk about being a talented performer! It's only her voice I heard when I was reading book four in this series and felt so deprived that she didn't perform for that book.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Three's Company...except instead of two hot chics, there is two hot guys and a chic.

Any additional comments?

Fantastic plot, interesting characters and thank you for creating Nick and Savage!!

I'm hope Kim and Savage hook up too!!!

Fun Chick-Lit Mystery

This is a really fun and quirky series, at times it feels very familiar, rather like a few other characters on TV and in books. Still it is entertaining and draws you in like a warm cup of hot chocolate. I am enamored with the characters and sold on the whole series!

Addison is kind of a hot mess as a detective, she solves cases in spit of her ineptitude and too stupid to live moments. She is very lucky to have such a great support system with Kate, Nick RoseMarie, her mom and now Savage. I would hate to see what would happen if these folks didn't have her back! It is fun to watch her fumble through but ya worry about the girl a lot!

The romance takes a slight turn with the love triangle, this feels very familiar. I liked Addison and Nick in the first book and really wanted them to have progressed the relationship in this book. But his control issues are a touch annoying, sure she is clueless at the job, but ya gotta let her fly. I kind of think Savage is a better fit for her, he lets her have her head while keeping tabs from a distance.

The mystery is more focused this time around, not all those pesky red herrings. There are still side cases but they don't get in the way as much. The pacing is great and everything flows. I hope things get a little more complex as the series progresses, but it is also great that things stay pretty light.

The book is all first person, which I don't mind so much in audiobooks. Somehow it makes the read feel more dynamic. Addison is such a fun character that you can't help but fall into her schemes.

I listened to the audiobooks narrated by Connie Ventress, who has a delicious Southern accent. She makes everything blend together, the quirkiness of Addison and the energy of the small town really come through. The pace is brisk, I like things quicker, so I speed the read up a notch. It is a fabulous pairing of book and narrator. She has a sweet and soothing tone, just enough depth to the Southern to make it smooth.

Overall, it is a very entertaining read, quirky and fun while keeping the mystery moving. This is one of those series you either love or hate, I am firmly in love. Sure there are flaws but it is just so charismatic I can't hope but overlook them.

Another Fun Ride!

Listened for Fun (Audible)
Whiskey Sour by Liliana Hart
Overall Rating: 4.25
Story Rating: 4.00
Character Rating: 4.50

Audio Rating: 4.00 (Not Part of the Overall Rating)

First Thought when Finished: Another fun ride! I am so sad that there are only 2 books in this series so far :(

Story Thoughts: Whiskey Sour is one of those books that was made for ice tea and summer porches. Addison Holmes (not quite PI) is working in surveillance for her best friend’s PI firm. It makes for some seriously fun times since she is not exactly trained for this kind of work. What I like best about these stories is that Liliana never tries to make Addison more clever, skilled, or stealthy than she is so you can get lost in the shenanigans without going “OH PLEASE”. This time that includes an escort agency, a waxing incident, and a movie experience we can all identify with (if you have a heart LOL). In other words, some truly fun capers (with hot men) that just make you bubble over in laughter.

Character Thoughts: Addison Holmes is a hot mess but one that is trying desperately to get her life together. I think she grew a LOT in Whiskey Sour and that made me love her more. Her love life is a mess and I was worried we were venturing into love triangle territory for a minute. However, one of the growth things Addison tackled was staying true to herself. YEAH! I love Addison’s friends! They really are great Yin/Yangs for her. Her best friend (Kate) is her anchor and I adore her. Kate had some stuff to deal with during the story and their friendship was beautiful to watch. They supported each other even though I am pretty sure they both think the Twinkies were a bad idea :) The characters really do shine and make you smile about every other page!

Audio Thoughts:

Narrated By Connie Ventress / Length: 7 hrs and 16 mins

Connie is such a fun narrator for this series. She pretty much nails Addison in pacing, emotion, and sarcasm (yes I went there). I think she adds a little extra something that makes you laugh a little harder at Addison’s shenanigans. Not as big a fan of the voices for the men but they are easy to get used too. Overall, if the series continues then I will be getting it on audio!

Final Thoughts: This is just a fun mystery that had me rolling in laughter!

I've read this before...

...in the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. But Mrs. Evanovich does it MUCH better. Liliana Heart's attempts to create a romantic tension fall pitifully short and just left me depressed.

Too sour for my tastes

Cannot believe i listened to the end. Too much talk about sex and not enough plot. This was all about her woes, men trouble and job trouble. If the fore mentioned had not been there the book may have been two short chapters. I won't be reading any more of these!

Excellent narrator. She did a pretty good job.
