About this listen

It took only one impulsive moment on an empty two-lane highway to cost her everything. A man's responsible for his own prosperity - especially if he's Cooper Barnett, the most determined cowboy in the West. No one knows what he sacrificed to claim a piece of Beartooth, Montana, for himself and his beautiful fiancée, Livie. No one knows what he's willing to do for love...until a stranger's twisted vendetta threatens the happy ending they should've had long ago.

One fateful mistake isn't the only secret Livie Hamilton is keeping from her fiancé. Victimized during a treacherous blizzard by a man she thought she could trust, she's pregnant...but unsure who the father is. With an unknown blackmailer threatening to expose her, she must confess to Cooper and trust he'll still protect her. But when the truth falls into place, she may lose the only man she's ever loved - or worse.

Relationship hurdles, and how love and trust triumphs.

Loved the main characters, and supporting cast. Looking forward to the development of the family storyline with mother.

Honorable Men Are Always Honorable

Even when things looked bleak the family kept working for a good outcome. Perseverance is a good trait.

Wild Horses

It’s the first book by B J Daniels that I read, but it won’t be the last.

Wild Horses - Montana Hamiltons Series

The narrator did a wonderful job. I hope that he is the narrator used for all of B.J. Daniels' future audio-books.

Certainly an interesting start to a new series.

I also enjoyed this story because of the continuing saga of Sheriff Frank Curry.
He is my favorite character from the Beartooth, Montana Series.

my first DNF

I only made it as far as chapter three, so I cant honestly say if the characters develop.
At first I wanted to root for Cooper, the family was so unbearable about him *gasp* wanting to pay his own way in life so I thought he might be decent. Nope. He considers cheating three seconds after a fight (granted, a big one) but from what I can tell pretty much all these characters do is fight. Besides the classist crap and lack of chemistry, the kicker that made me turn this off was the victim blaming. WOW, it was bad. I gave it a few more minutes to see if the 'shock' wore off and nope, still inexcusably awful. Hard pass on this one.

Good Mystery, Immature Romance

Although I enjoyed most of the story, the romance between rich girl Livie (25) and ranch hand Cooper (28) brought back bad memories of high school. They kept believing the worst of the other, not trusting, not communicating, lots of bickering, seriously not ready to be married or become parents.

The Montana small town setting was interesting, but missing the sense of community that is common in rural areas. The percentage of mean-spirited and violent residents seemed unbelievable, creating few light or heart-warming moments. Engrossing plot well written but not something I would want to experience more than once.
