Publisher's summary

William Carey watched from the dock as the magnificent sailing ship headed for the English Channel without him. Tears filled his eyes, and deep disappointment filled his heart. What would he tell the missionary society? So much work awaited him half a world away. He must get to India—and soon!

William's amazing journey to India would prove to be just the beginning of a missionary quest filled with hardship and heartache as well as tremendous victories.

Often referred to as "the father of modern missions," William Carey displayed a single-minded determination to set his face like a flint to the task of bringing the gospel to those lost in darkness. His life of service and sacrifice is a guidepost for Christians of all generations.

An inspiration to all

Where does William Carey rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best audiobooks I have listened to. Very well narrated and enough detail to keep you intrigued.

What other book might you compare William Carey to and why?

Hudson Taylor, Brother Andrew, etc.

Any additional comments?

William Carey's life as a missionary is an inspiration. His perseverance is an example for anyone who encounters difficulties while living out a life of faith.

Stop what you're doing and buy this book

William Carey was a cultural and spiritual revolutionary. In this book, you'll learn English, Dutch, French, and Indian history. You'll learn about how the "Father of Modern Protestant Missions" labored tirelessly for gender-equality, religious tolerance, science, and education -- all in addition to evangelism, preaching, and starting churches. You'll also hear stories of unbearable heartache and the faith that overcomes such obstacles. Christians and non-Christians alike owe it to themselves to see how the life and legacy of William Carey stands out as a shining example of cultural and religious transformation.

Inspiring story about never giving up.

William's story is a very inspiring story of how hard work and determination can bring you a long way. This man was never deterred despite many opticals. The reader of this book is interesting and clear. Definitely worth your time.

Great Book and reading.

The audio is a little weird. But overall a great book. The reader does a good job but the audio quality is a little lacking.

Good!

"Expect great things from God, achieve great things for God!"
Though there are many, many things I question about William's actions, God redeemed them all for His Glory! Grateful that God works, even in our flawed human weaknesses.

sacrificial intelligent man of God

who gave his best to serve God and ministry tirelessly and without waivering to the Indian people. He should be remembered as part of the history of modern India and all Christian Indians today. Great story, voice acting, and pacing. It does make you feel like, how could I do even half of what he did?
