Long-listed, Audible.com Best of the Year, 2024

The long-awaited explosive climax to the first arc of the #1 New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive—the iconic epic fantasy masterpiece that has sold more than 10 million copies, from acclaimed bestselling author Brandon Sanderson.

Dalinar Kholin challenged the evil god Odium to a contest of champions with the future of Roshar on the line. The Knights Radiant have only ten days to prepare—and the sudden ascension of the crafty and ruthless Taravangian to take Odium’s place has thrown everything into disarray.

Desperate fighting continues simultaneously worldwide—Adolin in Azir, Sigzil and Venli at the Shattered Plains, and Jasnah in Thaylenah. The former assassin, Szeth, must cleanse his homeland of Shinovar from the dark influence of the Unmade. He is accompanied by Kaladin, who faces a new battle helping Szeth fight his own demons . . . and who must do the same for the insane Herald of the Almighty, Ishar.

At the same time, Shallan, Renarin, and Rlain work to unravel the mystery behind the Unmade Ba-Ado-Mishram and her involvement in the enslavement of the singer race and in the ancient Knights Radiant killing their spren. And Dalinar and Navani seek an edge against Odium’s champion that can be found only in the Spiritual Realm, where memory and possibility combine in chaos. The fate of the entire Cosmere hangs in the balance.

Incredible

I laughed, I cried, and I feel like I know myself a little better. It is not perfect as I do not believe anything can truly be perfect, but I think in terms of the grand tale that Sanderson’s set out to tell he did so in a way that any true fan of his works will be pleased with. The only thing I can even remotely view in a negative light is the reliance on consuming 20 years worth of books to truly grasp the connections he has built and understand the ramifications these words will have on his future works. The messages and theme do not require that outside knowledge, but without it I fear some people will lose part of what makes this book truly amazing. Either way please do yourself the pleasure of reading this series and feeling the incredible wave of emotion that will accompany it. It truly touched me in a way that I have not been touched by a piece of media in a long time if ever. Thank you Brandon and thank you to the amazing community that has rallied around the stories you tell.

Too darned much

Too many tiers. Too many story arcs. Too many Gods, heralds, demi gods foofoomaign and spren. Too many characters who have multiple names. Humans who merge with heralds who become Gods whose cousins work at Baskin Robins with a guy who knows a girl on another planet that is key to the story. It has all grown to be too darned much.

I got a question…

….WTF?! Listening nigh nonstop for six days and couldn’t stop. In the middle of post-Sanderlanch inertia right now. This was amazing! So much tied up and yet the greater aspects of the Cosmere tantalized and increased my hunger for more. Mind is blown, heart is pummeled, soul is ignited! Can’t wait to see where and what this behemoth of threads weave into!

Irrevocably Moving

All I can say about this book is the most valuable lesson I have learned from it: The greatest honor in life comes from choosing to grow.
(AKA I wept like a child for several hours after reading and it was amazing. 10/10, would recommend.)

The female narrator can’t do male voices

Narrator’s should attempt voices unless they are talented enough to pull them off. She’s absolutely awful.

Love the cosmere!

Hoid (Wit) is the best character. The world hopping entities are my favorite. I love connecting the references or characters from different stories.
