Publisher's summary

Killing machines. Shadow organizations. A desperate attempt to stay sane.

After failing the most important exam of his life, Kyle is forced into a VR war. Now, he fights on the front lines as cannon fodder for what he always assumed was the government, losing a little part of his memories with every virtual death.

When the mission he’s on goes wrong, Kyle is stranded on a planet far from his original destination. Finally given a chance to make an impression in the organization, Kyle will have to risk his mind for a chance at salvation.

If he fails, he'll lose all will to resist: making him the perfect soldier.

Winter Harvest is audiobook one of four in the Space Seasons series, a LitRPG sci-fi space opera set on another world with mechs, spaceships, levels, and...well...pure evil.

read you later maybe

really good story overall, it just had some plot holes and needed more character development. I'm reading the next book I hope it gets better.

Tries to hard to be woke

In response to other reviews there is no actual sex scenes, however there is some cursing.

Minor spoilers,

I don't have an issue with others sexual orientation. What I have an issue with is it being forced onto us. What the US population is around 4-5% gay and/or lesbian. So please explain to me if that makes up only a fraction of the population why was their no normal relationships in this book? There is a gay man livng in the MC's head. The only healthy relationship is lesbian. The only time the MC had sex was cuckold with both in that relationship being bi. If the book was well written I could handle all that, but sadly it was not.

My main issue is the MC, all he does is whine. Every other chapter I miss my father, I miss my best friends, I hope everyone is good...... It gets old quickly. Not to mention the description about the book does not really match up to the actual story. I was looking for another space genre series but looks like I will keep looking. I won't be getting the next book in this series.

Mechs? ok I'm in.

The majority of litrpgs are solidly fantasy so it's always nice to have a sci-fi story to jump over to in the genre.

the story was fun with several twists I didn't see coming and a lot of interesting characters. writing is pretty solid and if I had any complaints it would be it seems to be drag just a tiny bit in places but not really.

I recommend giving it a shot if you have a credit to spare.

Failure is just the beginning

The book has a cool start not your normal let's go play VR. Also a part I always like in a book no five chapter back story to explain the character, let's get that action.
This is a fun filled ride. Lots of action a few plot twists. (Some you see coming some slap you)
The character is not op or a idiot, great balance.

I recieved a free audio code for my opinion of the book.

solid Litrpg sci-fi

Winter Harvest definitely has that 'book 1' feel to it. Still, it's very enjoyable and a good entry to what I hope in the future will be an action-packed series. 4/5

a very different story from Chapman

not that it's a bad thing, but for those coming from Puatera it will be different in the feel of the storytelling.
I enjoyed it immensely, both because of and in spite of the change, places this style was far better, others the old style could have done better...
still this is a great space adventure with some nice stats without becoming peanut butter levels of chunky.

I recommend this to anyone looking for a good time :)

Neil Hellegers is a decent narrator and he never gets in the way of the story, but he is a little limited in his range of voices.
it's not a problem most of the time, you just can't recognise a character by it's voice as some other narrators are capable of

Fantastic Space Gamelit!!!

Great story and narration!

MC lives in a world where if you don't pass the exams your consciousness is uploaded into a "game" and you have to fight an alien invasion. Even though he studied really hard and thought that he should have done well, he is told that he failed the test and is processed. Now he must fight to survive because each time he dies he looses a few more memories.

Neil dose a great job with the narration!

I really enjoyed this one - space gamelit is somewhat scares, and this one is very well done!

Loved it and can't wait for the next book in the series to come out!

'Bumpy', but in a good way!

I am an overall huge fan of LitRPG as a genre, so when I heard about this one, I grabbed it as soon as I could. This is my first Sci-Fi LitRPG, and I am incredibly impressed. I loved the story and the characters, and Neil did a fantastic job narrating. It really throws you for a loop sometimes, but for this story, that works incredibly well. Couldn't recommend this enough!

awesome

great story, large robots that merge like Voltron/ power rangers and in my opinion/ experience surprisingly somewhat realistic hacking.
