About this listen

A fatherless wizard is no match for royalty. So Beneban, shaken by loss, leaves his noble lady, Laraynia, for a dangerous quest. With the Grand Lar and Trog as his traveling companions, he journeys to the remote Ogdol homeland on the far western shore of Larlion. Magic sword in hand, he battles many perils along the way. It seems that the black wizard Ztavin’s evil magic is gone, but who is threatening the Ogdol throne?

Laraynia is left behind as the new Lady of the Great Shrine. Uprooted from her beloved Forest and seemingly deserted by Beneban, she struggles to defend the Shrine from danger on every side. Her wizard father Nigeran, Queen Varakin, and Vari’s fierce ice dragons fight by her side, as does the handsome Mergol king, who offers his friendship…and more. Laraynia still longs for Beneban's return, but how long will she wait?

When the threat becomes clear, the combined forces of the Great Shrine and Larlion rally their allies to converge on the Dark Fortress. The mystical Harkowl has shown them the way, lending magical aid to battle the evil wizard who threatens them all. With catapults, ice dragon sorties, warriors wielding magical swords, and armies attacking from every side, can the tiny Worf, Pym, save the day?

A Magical Adventure

I was as entertained by book three as much as the first two books in the series. I admired the worldbuilding which continued to become more complex. I enjoyed the characters as they were well-rounded. I liked that the characters had problems and responsibilities and sometimes they were a little overwhelmed by all that was going on in their lives. I held my breath during some of the battle scenes. I was entertained by Hollis McCarthy's narration, and her performance kept my attention riveted to the story. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
