About this listen
Zan West has a strange power that only works on girls. He doesn't know why he has this so-called “gift”, but it's killing his chances of ever getting a girlfriend.
Then he meets an older girl named Austin, and she's strangely immune to his power. Zan can't see her secrets, but he can't see her future, either. There's something she isn't telling him, and it's driving him mad.
Zan consults a powerful witch who offers him peace of mind in exchange for his power. What he doesn't know is this so-called peace of mind comes with a big bad heaping of death. The permanent kind.

Story
Here's a juicy treat for fans of Angela Pepper's Wisteria Witches Mysteries: a paranormal romance novella featuring a hilarious young lady named Zebrina, or Zeb for short. Zeb is a gifted singer who's taking a break from touring in her beat-up Volkswagen van (named Piglet) to attend a prestigious music college. Zeb meets a snooty composition teacher, and sparks fly. Literally. When they touch, sparks fly out of all sorts of places. Embarrassing places. Get ready for a wild ride as Zeb finds out she's a witch and masters her powers. Sort of. (Life is nothing if not a work in progress!)

Guy Style Goofy Romance & Belly Button Future Tell
Parents- This is meant for YA but really 17+ read
Language- PG13- quite a bit of language
Violence- PG13- memory of murder/suicide but not too graphic, alcohol drinking teens
Sexual Content- PG13-R- more due to the amount of time on sexualized topics. Lots of guy discussions/references about sex, high schoolers losing "v-card", a non explicit bedroom scene- more or less a morning after scene, and puns
The main character has this weird belly button magic that when a girl puts her finger in his belly button he sees her future... But then again that was before he lost his " v-card." It's a lot of teen boy thoughts and interaction and then they collide with an old lady / witch who is trying to steal Zan's belly button magic trick. It's very much a teen / YA paranormal adventure mystery although I would caution it's really more appropriate for those over 17. I do love this author's writing style and I did see glimpses of the Wisteria Witches humor and style but this one didn't really keep me engaged.
Narrator- is pretty good but a little on the slow side, I listened at 1.35 times speed.

Entertaining and very fun
As someone who usually doesn't enjoy stories about teens, I can say that this book was a delightful surprise. I really enjoyed it reading about Zan and his very, very weird power.
You'll find everything here: romance, mystery, danger and a good deal of magic. And, of course, as this is Angela Pepper, a good deal of humour. The characters are colourful and rich, and even when the story arc is finished by the end of the book, there are enough unanswered questions as to provide a good chance for another book in this Universe.
If you like paranormal mysteries that are suspenseful and fun, this is for you.
DJ Holte does a great job with the narration,

Great Read
Zan: A Paranormal Mystery (Wisteria Witches Mysteries) was a great read by Angela Pepper. Zan has a strange power that only works on girls. This "gift" is killing his chances of getting a girlfriend. He meets an older girl named Austin who seems to be strangely immune to his power. He cant see her secrets or her future. It's driving him mad that she isn't being honest with him. He consults a powerful witch that offers him peace of mind in exchange for his power. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

This is a really good young adult book. The characters are terrific. There is a bit more sexy stuff going ones young teens beware. The whole belly button thing is a bit freaky, but go ahead, stick your finger in Zane belly button! He will tell you your future. D.J. Holte was a wonderful narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Hormones, Hallucinations and Hijinks
Disclaimer: I received a free copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Zan is your average teenage boy. He is very interested in girls and can see glimpses into their futures and darkest secrets if they stick their finger in his bellybutton. Or maybe he’s not so average. The first plot (this audio book very much feels like two books in one volume) kicks off when he meets the girl of his dreams but for some reason is weird power does nothing. The second plot is more of a supernatural murder mystery.
Angela Pepper never fails to create vivid, memorable characters and infuse them with lived in relationships and witty banter. The supernatural elements are a clever patch for showing even characters with little screen time are multifaceted and there are small actions that can have larger consequences. I enjoyed the first plot a bit more than the second - but if you enjoy Pepper’s take on supernatural mysteries (and I do) I would suggest Ghost Hackers and Wisteria Witches as stronger entries. This title does contain plenty of humor, teenage drama, romance and some spectacular supernatural set pieces.
There are resolutions but there are strong enough plot threads left untied to indicate future volumes in the series and I would be happy to revisit these characters again.
DJ Holte provides narration. He also provides voices for the characters. He is easy to listen to and his voices are distinct enough to highlight each character in turn.
A solid effort and I would be happy to see more in this series down the line.

A real page turner!
Climb inside of the head of a teenage boy discovering he has some interesting powers beyond those of most of his friends. With all the charm and humor one expects from author Angela Pepper, this story is totally different from anything else of hers I've ever read, or in this case, listened to. Narration is also excellent. All around delightful!

GOOD VALUE, WELL NARRATED, CLEAN, MAGICAL MYSTERY
Zan comes across as a polite, well mannered, clean-cut, well balanced teen with twin friends cut from the same cloth. A Halloween party becomes the catalyst for events taking him out of his comfort zone, discovering a magical side, love and fighting for justice in a murder. His previous, unusual magical ability attracts unwanted attention leaving him puzzled and confused as a darker mysterious side is revealed.
I was so taken with the storyline that the 12 and a half hours flew by. Will there be another book? I would definitely want to get that! Recommended well written book by one of my favourite authors. Have you tried her other books yet?

Entertaining
Interesting teenage paranormal story involving teenage love, mystery, murder, and shenanigans. Entertaining! The narrator did a good job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene. Zan
First I am so used to Angela Pepper using a female narrator this threw me for a loop! He does a very nice job with the book and does a great job as Zan! Another Z name!!! Ok so this is a good book, but a little different than her normal work. My only issue is that I’m not sure if I missed a part or the story or if it’s 2 books combined into 1. Because at one point Zan retells why things are the way they are? Other than that fun listen nice narrator.
