איתא במכילתא שבעת יציאת מצרים בט"ו ניסן היתה לידת עם ישראל. ומובן שמרגע הלידה צ"ל מטרת הנולד להגיע לתכלית שלשמה הולידו המוליד. ובעניננו: מכיון שהקב"ה, ה"מוליד" של עם ישראל, הוא "עצם הטוב" ו"טבע הטוב להטיב", מובן שהתכלית של לידת עם ישראל היא שיגיעו למצב של טוב בתכלית השלימות. וא"כ צ"ל: הרי לכאו' תכלית השלימות של טוב היא כאשר מקבלים אותו בלי יגיעה והשתדלות, וא"כ מדוע כבר ביום בריאת האדם (לפני חטא עה"ד) נקבע ש"ויניחהו בג"ע לעבדה ולשמרה"?! ועד"ז בנוגע לכל אדם בפרט נאמר "אדם לעמל יולד"?! ועד"ז בנוגע ללידת כלל ישראל בעת יצי"מ נאמר "בהוציאך את העם ממצרים [לא יבואו מיד למצב של חירות וכו', אלא] תעבדון את האלקים על ההר הזה", כמו עבודת עבד (לא עשי' סתם, וע"ד ענין ה"עמל")?! It says in Mechilta that the exodus of the Jewish people from Egypt on the 15th of Nissan marked the birth of the Jewish people. Obviously, from the moment of birth, the goal of the newborn must be to reach the ultimate purpose intended by the one who brought it into being. In this case: Since Hashem, the One who brought the Jewish people into being, is the essence of goodness, and “The nature of the good is to bestow goodness,” it follows that the ultimate purpose of the Jewish people’s birth is to reach a state of ultimate goodness. Seemingly, the ultimate perfection of goodness is when it comes without toil and effort; if so, why was it established, on the day of man’s creation (even before the sin of the Tree of Knowledge), that “He placed him in the Garden of Eden to work it and to guard it”?! And so too on the individual level, “Man is born to toil,” as well as with the Jewish people as a whole, of whom it says, “When you take the people out of Egypt, you will serve G-d on this mountain” – meaning (not just “doing,” but) toiling and serving like a servant?!
