Here's Darcy's recipe for Yule Cake

    3 sticks softened butter

    3 tablespoons softened butter

    1 ¼ and 2 Tablespoons flour

    ¾ cup chopped candied cherries

    1 ¼ raisins*

    1 ¼ cups dried currants*

    1 ½ cups granulated sugar

    1 teaspoon ground allspice

    1 Tablespoon salt

    1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat over to 300 degrees. Using a pastry brush, use the 3 Tablespoons of softened butter to coat the sides and bottom of a 9 x 3-inch springform cake pan.

Sprinkle 2 Tablespoons of flour into the pan and tip the pan to coat the sides evenly.

Combine the cherries, raisins* and currants* in a bowl. Then, add ¼ cup flour and stir into the fruit with a spoon to coat evenly. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream the 3 sticks of butter, granulated sugar, and 2 additional Tablespoons of flour until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then gradually beat in the rest of the flour, allspice, and salt.

Add the nut mixture, ½ cup at a time to the batter, beating well after each addition.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread evenly with a spatula.

Bake on the middle rack for 1.5 hours or until the top of your Yule cake is golden and a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.

Cool completely before removing from the pan.

    Substitutions for raisins and/or currents:

    • Dried cranberries
    • Dried blueberries
    • Chopped dates

  • Rundown on the elements
    Dec 13 2024
Episode 1: EarthHost:Earth is the element of stability and grounding. It represents the physical realm—our home, bodies, and resources. When we think of Earth, we think of the North, a place of stillness and stability. It connects deeply with the Root Chakra, the energy center associated with security and survival. Earth energy is slow, steady, and supportive. In a healing circle, it provides balance and a solid foundation for all intentions. It rules over the bones, legs, and feet—those parts of us that hold us up and keep us connected to the ground.[Pause for Reflection]Take a moment. When was the last time you felt truly grounded? Maybe it was standing barefoot on grass or holding a smooth stone in your hand. These small moments are a direct connection to Earth energy. Host:Tools like stones, bones, and pendulums are often used for divination in Earth-centered practices. If you’re looking for a ritual to connect with Earth, create a small altar with soil, crystals, or a plant. Meditate on stability and let Earth guide you to your roots. 2: AirHost:Air is the element of intellect, communication, and freedom. It’s associated with the East, where the sun rises—a fitting symbol for new ideas and inspiration. Air governs the Throat Chakra, our center for expression and truth. When Air enters a healing circle, it brings clarity and vision as it carries the seeds of wisdom. It touches the lungs and voice, those parts of us that engage with the external world. Think of Air as a bridge between thought and action.[Practical Tip]One way to connect with Air is through breathing exercises. Try deep inhalations paired with affirmations like, "I speak my truth freely." You can also work with feathers or incense to honor this element. I like to stand outside (especially when I am dealing with anxiety or worry), close my eyes and feel the air / wind blow away that stress or worry. Focus on the parts of the body it is touching, how it feels on your skin. Listen to the messages that come with the wind / air. Host:Let Air guide your thoughts and inspire creative solutions to challenges in your life. It’s all about clarity and movement. 3: FireHost:Fire burns in the South, symbolizing passion, courage, and transformation. It’s the essence of change, consuming the old to make way for the new. Connected to the Solar Plexus Chakra, Fire governs our inner power and will. In a healing circle, Fire offers courage and energy to act. It protects, it banishes, it fuels, it warms those cold places and embeds in us the messages we need to carry. It resonates with the blood and digestive system—the literal and figurative flames within us.When combined with air, it can spark those dormant embers within us. [Practical Tip]Work with candles for personal empowerment. Choose colors that resonate with your intention—red for passion, yellow for confidence, or orange for creativity. Gazing into a flame can also inspire insight and clarity. 4: WaterHost:Flowing in the West is Water, the element of emotions and intuition. It’s a symbol of life and purification, ever-moving and adaptable. Water resonates with the Sacral Chakra, which governs our creativity and emotional flow. Water touches our tears, reproductive system, and the cycles of life. In a healing circle, it cleanses emotional wounds and restores balance. It can refresh, nourish, and also wash away the corrosion of the past.Host:Moon water rituals are a powerful way to work with this element. Charge a bowl of water under the full moon, then use it to cleanse your hands, tools, or space. Let Water guide your emotional journey with its soothing and transformative power. 5: Spirit (Ether)Host:Finally, we come to Spirit, the fifth element. Spirit ties all the others together, representing the divine connection and universal energy. It’s associated with all directions and resonates with the Crown Chakra, our link to higher consciousness. In healing circles, Spirit harmonizes energies, creating a sense of unity and wholeness. It transcends the physical, touching the nervous system and the aura.[Reflection]Spirit reminds us that magic and connection aren’t just practices—they’re experiences. Work with tools like meditation or visualization to deepen your connection with this universal force.

  • Preparing for your Journey
    Dec 6 2024
So, the one thing I am going to really hone in and talk about today is the Book of Shadows or the witch’s journal. What do you put in it? Name your book, make it personal, bond with the pages. What do we write in it? Priorities, to make lists, Meals, exercise routines, finances, appointments, cleaning schedules, work schedules, idea dumps, maybe an itinerary, goals, tarot spreads, meditation downloads, dreams, spells, things you study,Plants, monology etc. information you learn, anything you want actually. How to create a journal that suits your needs. Make it authentic and unique.Have fun with it.Get creative with it.Junk journal, Scrap book, create designs, draw, dig deep within your creative ability, and most importantly, Be patient with yourself and with this process. Follow your intuition about it, change things up when you feel the unction to. Just flow with it. Maybe it’s just creating a calendar and getting creative that way. It is your journal, Your space, Your creativity in its rawest form. What is great is you can look back in reflection, or maybe you want to repeat a spell or whatever, anywho, you will see your transformation come to life on the pages. It’s awesome. Crazy shit right there!!! So now let’s go into our first journal segment. This is how you are going to open up your journal.Inside cover, write what this book means to you, what you want from this, your motto so to speak of what this journal is going to provide, something important about you. Mine is the rules of my craft, the woman I want to be and a manifesto for what this year is going to look like for me. I start a new journal every Samhain. Go into first journal prompt. At the top of the page in a corner, write the date, moon phase, and mood you are feeling in that moment. Then I write down things that I track myself by doing that I want to improve on. Mine is: Sleep health Mood Supplements Yoga Food It may vary a little each day depending on what my priorities are. Then Monday is set to plan the week, Weekly tarot draw Bills, I need to pay. Appointments Then a space for ideas drops. Tuesday goes into meals, projects, and goals.Wednesday is a witchy Wednesday,Thursday is my reflection day. So, once you have your journal set up, you are organized with your daily tasks, you have left space on each day for journal prompts, ideas, and gratitude. Now, what do we put in for our first journal prompt. Well, if you were going through my program, which we were going to scratch the surface on some of these, you are going to write the answers to the following questions:Home in and set your intentions on what you want from this journey. What do you want to break free from? What is your dream journey? What are some of your priorities that you are looking at right now? How committed are you to working through this? What is one thing you need to get the fuck out of your life and your energy field right now?Start your journal / book of shadows. How to set your intentions and why:What is it that you want from this process? What does an ideal life look like to you? What are some of the dreams you have? What is something that you are grateful for in your life right now? Why do you want this right now and how badly do you want it? How is this thing you are healing from holding you back right now? What is it specifically that you want to heal?Using Tarot to help guide and map out the road for you. I personally have JUST started doing Monday readings for the week. With my schedule change at work, this is the start of my week off. So, I have the next 4 days to pull my shit together for the following week. Can I just mention that letting my creativity flow naturally and chaotically free…. It is helping me stay more focused and attentive in other areas that I am working on right now. It’s insane… But man, the universe is AMAZING and such loving wisdom in how she provides it, if you are willing to lay down your pride and accept the fact that “weird shit is for real. Next episode in this series is going to be about healing with the elements. What do each of the elements offer us on your journey? How do we benefit from those things? How to create a healing circle with what the elements mean to you?Guided meditation at the end of the show. Join us on our Awaken the Authentic You Facebook page. Have a great week everyone. Talk to you next week.

  • Grateful Hearts: Embracing Thanksgiving with an Attitude of Gratitude
    Nov 28 2024

Gratitude’s biggest benefit is that it aligns with the Law of Attraction’s basic principle of ‘like energy attracts like energy’. Because the positive vibration of having an ‘attitude of gratitude’ is so much higher, you naturally attract more positively vibrating people, situations, and events into your life.

It's important to remember that having an "Attitude of Gratitude" is more than just feeling grateful:

    • It’s actively seeking out things to appreciate and expressing thanks for them.
    • It requires a mindset shift to make gratitude a daily habit
    • You must become a person who sees only the positive in all situations, including challenging ones

A few practical suggestions for practicing gratitude, such as:

    • Keeping a gratitude journal.
    • Expressing thanks directly to loved ones.
    • Finding gratitude even in challenging times.
    • Creating new traditions that center on thankfulness.

Comment Below! We would love to hear how you practice gratitude ❤️
