In this world of war, cost of living and climate crises, political instability and a host of other challenges, where do we find hope? What gifts are you thinking of giving this Christmas? Well God had an eternity to think about how he would give us the gift go His Son Jesus! Andrew Onobrakpeya shares how grace and truth wrap around God’s plan through history to restore our broken relationship with Him. The cross allows our relationship with God to be restored. Andrew explains that the presence of God isn’t confined to a place or time, but now lives within all his followers in the person of the Holy Spirit. Grace empowers us to live godly lives - the truth of this is the basis of the victorious lives we can now live. We say Amen with Andrew that: “We can’t thank God enough for giving us the gift of Jesus Christ.”

Why do we study the word of God? And how? Simmie and Jo share that, through studying the Scriptures, we build intimacy with God, learn what it means to be true representatives of Christ in the world, and build our discernment and defence against evil. In communion with other believers we test and refine our understanding of the word and learn how to put in into practice. We get the most out of the word by reading it regularly, widely, and humbly, by believing it, reading it with prayer and by applying it. Join Jo as he shares an example of applying this teaching to the beginning of John's gospel.

“May the cross and the fire never simply be emblems of what might have been but the hallmarks of our lives and witness until Jesus comes again.” Pastor Andy reflects on living empowered by the fire of the Spirit and the sacrifice of the cross. We deny ourselves for the sake of Christ and for others who need us to represent him in this dark world. Jesus compares the Spirit to the flow of rivers (plural) from our innermost being. What character flows from us when we are under pressure, and what power is there for us to take the Gospel beyond the walls of the church? As we submit to Him, The Spirit is who in us, with us, and for us, makes Jesus’ indwelling presence a real experience in our everyday lives.

Pastor Steve shares three Biblical truths about giving. First, we give from a heart of worship not duty, trusting God as our creator, sustainer and provider. Second, we are stewards of everything and owners of nothing. Third, he shows us the connection between giving and blessing, and addresses head on what the Bible does - and doesn’t - say about this. He shares how giving attracts the blessing of God, and the various ways in which that blessing is demonstrated. He inspires us with the truth that we give from the heart, cheerfully, and generously to see people come to faith, transform communities and families, eradicate poverty and to give glory to God.
