  • Tennessee State Head Coach & Former NFL RB Eddie George Visits
    Dec 12 2024

Jason & Kirk discussed Florida International University hiring Willie Simons as their next head football coach. This is a great hire and is a win for the university. Willie has had success in the state of Florida and as Jason points out, every NFL team has at least one player that has played high school football in Florida. The resume speaks for Willie Simmons. He is the right guy for the job. The show wraps with a chat on the comments from Grambling Women's Basketball Head Coach Courtney Simmons saying SWAC teams getting blown out by power schools, like her squad's loss to LSU recently, is damaging to the confidence of SWAC players. Jason & Kirk disagree fundamentally in that mid- majors have to take hits to get money for their schools to survive. Kirk points out his memories of being a mid-major playing against blue-chip schools.

Eddie George - Head Football Coach Tennessee State University; Former NFL Running Back

Eddie joins the show and discusses his 4th season at TSU, and they progress that has been made. The program has come a long way. Eddie talks about the struggles at the beginning and how he got to this point on his head coaching journey. TSU lost in the 1st round of the NCAA FCS playoffs last week. It was the first time in 11 seasons and the 7th time in program history that they reached the national playoffs. Eddie led the Tigers to a 9-4 record and has been named conference coach of the year. Eddie is also this year's runner-up for Eddie Robinson FCS Coach of The Year. Eddie breaks down his resume in and out of football which prepared him for his current situation.
