  • Bringing the Personal In
    Aug 11 2021

We do not always openly share our motivations for our advocacy, research, and development work. For many, personal and perhaps very private experiences have shaped our desire to bring about disruptive change. In two parts, we take a look at how disruptive development often comes through bringing the personal in. The episode features interviews with Violet Acumo from the University of Massachusetts at Boston and Pascal Masocha and Handina Esnathy Ngandini of the Coalition against Child Labour in Zimbabwe. Through an exploration of personal motivations and experiences, the conversation touches on advocacy and research work in the gender justice and child's rights space.

  • Scholar-Activist
    Jul 28 2021

There are divergent views on how researchers should operate in the development space. Not all scholarly researchers desire to straddle the academic-practitioner divide. However, many researchers thrive while straddling academics and practice and in some cases, take it a step further to engage in activism. In this episode, we explore crossing academic and activist boundaries in development work. The episode features interviews with Dr. Jelili "Gana" Adebiyi and Dr. Etta Mercy Aki.
