Jack of 'Nearly' All Trades with Loukman Ali

  • Summary

  • Loukman Ali is a Ugandan filmmaker whose first feature film, Girl in The Yellow Jumper was the first Ugandan film to get on Netflix.

Earlier this year, he was announced as one of the six finalists in the Netflix-UNESCO short film competition. Around the same time, he came to Nigeria to direct Brotherhood, a film produced by Jade Osiberu.

In this episode, we talk about Loukman’s journey, the Ugandan film industry and his lessons from making Girl in the Yellow Jumper. If nothing else, you need to listen for some of the crazy stuff that happened when he was making that film.

If you haven’t watched a Loukman Ali film, I highly recommend that you do. Watch Girl in the Yellow Jumper on Netflix. Find links to his short films here -
