  • 208. How to make new and sustainable habit changes
    Jan 5 2025

It's the new year, and there might be some tweaks you can make to your everyday habits so that gradually you get to freedom from cravings.

The book Atomic Habits by James Clear is a great reference if you're struggling with cravings for sweet foods or junk foods, and if you find yourself mindlessly snacking whenever you're tired or stressed or emotional.

James Clear in his book talks about how to create a good habit, and he has 4 laws to help you.

James Clear's first law is to make it obvious. In other words, to note down or tell someone what your current habits are so that you become more aware of them. The more aware you are of your current habits, the more you can change them.

Listen to this episode to get more tips for making small, sustainable habit changes so that you too can experience a peaceful craving free life.

  • 207. How will you feel with less sugar? (Part 3)
    Dec 29 2024

This is the last episode of 2024, so let's finish off the year in good cheer and in good health.

And maybe good health for you includes less sugar.

But maybe it's difficult for you to imagine actually feeling better with less sugar because you've never done it before.

Or you have, but you feel you failed, or you just can't believe that taking away all your favorite sugary comfort foods will actually make you feel better.

One of the top fears that people have is that they won't actually feel better because they'll feel restricted.

Or that they'll be constantly feeling guilty or controlled about what they can or they can't eat.

Well, I certainly won't be telling you what to do (or not do!).

Because let's face it - we've had enough of that type of approach from the diet culture.

Keep an open mind as you listen to this episode.

Especially if you believe that cutting down or cutting out sugar will make you feel restricted.

Because actually, the reality of freedom from cravings feels like the complete opposite of restriction.

  • 206. How will you feel with less sugar? (Part 2)
    Dec 22 2024

One of the fears that people have (and I definitely had it myself) is that if they cut sugar from their diet, then there's nothing left to eat.

I mean, sugar is everywhere. Right?

    Well, not quite.

Sugar - added sugar I mean - is nowhere to be found in whole foods: in fruits and vegetables, for example.

But it is a very common additive in industrial highly processed foods, or "ultra processed foods" as they're known.

And many studies have shown that there's a link between chronic inflammation and a high consumption of prepackaged foods like pizzas, frozen dinners, sauces and condiments, and obvious sources of sugar like sodas, cookies and pastries.

So less sugar means less chronic inflammation, and a lower risk of conditions such as heart disease, obesity, diabetes, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, allergies, digestive issues, and fatty liver disease.

So... can you imagine how you would feel with less sugar and less inflammation?
Listen to this episode to hear about the benefits of cutting sugar!

  • 204. "It was sugar - not fat - that made me put on weight": Meredith
    Dec 8 2024

Meredith grew up in the 80s and 90s eating all the "low fat" products because she was convinced that eating fat made her put on weight.

It was only years later, after grad school, that she learned that those products contain a bunch of added sugars.

Meredith started to educate herself about the effect that sugar and processed foods have on her body and weight. And she decided to stop eating them.

Now she takes care of her weight and health (including her mental health) with real, whole foods - none of which contain added sugars!

Malnutrition is a common side effect of bariatric surgery. Camilla discovered that her health improved when she focused on eating clean and cutting sugar, sweeteners and additives.

She also started to develop a line of clean supplements that don't contain fillers and dubious ingredients.
