  • The Role of Community in Real Estate Success with Tom Harrigan
    Oct 22 2024

Mike Rohr and Jeremy Doering sit down with Tom Harrigan, Village Manager of Elm Grove, to talk about the powerful role community engagement plays in real estate. The discussion begins by focusing on the current real estate trends, including pricing strategies, and the anticipated slowdown in the housing market.

They stress the importance of staying informed about market shifts and investment opportunities. Tom brings his rich background in municipal management and shares how his unique approach has transformed Elm Grove into a sought-after locale.

Could understanding these community elements be the missing piece in your real estate investment puzzle? Tune in to learn actionable insights and discover how community dynamics can boost property values and keep residents happy long-term. This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in real estate and community development.

    Episode Highlights:

10:28 - I think you referenced that it's super important for people who are looking to sell to manage their expectations. It's important for them to talk to a lot of people and ask questions. Because, as you referenced, there are houses out there that may be sitting on the market because they're overpriced.

11:18 - Milwaukee is a little hidden gem. I feel like more jobs are being created, and there's more manufacturing. We've got Amazon and Microsoft coming in. I feel like Milwaukee is a safe haven. The Milwaukee metropolitan area, and these areas like Elmbrook and Elm Grove, has high desirability. I feel like the Elmbrook area is kind of a safety net.

22:36 - Elm Grove is a very special community. My family lives on the north side of Milwaukee, and I have about a 30-minute commute, but that's nothing compared to the opportunity to work for the village, the families, and the organizations there. The sense of community is so strong. I've never told my colleagues this face to face, but I feel very lucky. I can't say it enough—it really is a special place. Other managers who worked in this capacity in Elm Grove have told me it was always their favorite position, even after moving on to other places. So, I feel good to be holding tight at the moment.

Ever wondered how a personalized community experience can influence a physician’s decision to relocate and commit long-term? Tune in as we reveal the detailed strategies and heartfelt stories that underscore the power of community connection.

    Episode Highlights:

01:09 - We feel very strongly about sharing, what we have to the community and to the people and to our listeners about real estate, not only locally but nationally. And then also how the community affects the location and the real estate values in the areas.

01:56 - People would rather have a community that is built on safety and support and businesses and walkability. All those factors really play into people looking at those communities and what they have as far as amenities, events, and school systems.

27:38 - I'm proud to bring people here. I feel confident in having them move here. I feel like our process helps them and helps me to have that confidence because I know they've gotten a good representation of the community through your assistance, and I think that's all we can do. And if it's the right fit for them, they'll know it and feel it. Again, that's what we try to achieve when they're here.

21:50 - People won't just up and move when they have a family that's established and happy, because the price of that disruption is just too high in most people's minds. So, on the front end, they really want to be sure. Where they're going is where they're going to want to put down roots and stay.
