    Mark Akenside was born on the 9th November, 1721 in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. He lived with physical disability beginning in childhood. He studied medicine and eventually became physician to the queen. His reputation amongst his peers was varied, particularly because of his arrogant and critical attitudes towards others. He died on 23rd June, 1770 in his home in London at the age of 48.
