    Anna Andreyevna Gorenko, born 23rd June 2889 in Odessa in the Russian Empire, was known by her pen name, Anna Akhmatova. She remained in the Soviet Union during her lifetime, and became a commentator on the regime, despite her work being condemned and censored by Stalinist leadership and many people close to her being killed or imprisoned. She died of natural causes on 5th March 1966 in Moscow.
