Why Did Lord Shiva come to Earth to see Lord Krishna in Mahabharatam? Lord Shiva is often depicted in a number of ways, including: Color Shiva is usually depicted as white, with a blue neck. The ashes of corpses are smeared on his body, and he holds poison in his throat. Accessories Shiva wears a crescent moon and the Ganges River in his hair, and a garland of skulls and a serpent around his neck. Eyes Shiva has three eyes, including one in the middle of his forehead. The third eye is usually closed, but when it opens, its glance can cause devastation. Hands Shiva is depicted with either two or four hands. He holds a skull in one of his hands. Faces Shiva is sometimes depicted with five faces, with each face representing a different quarter of the world. Posture Shiva is often depicted as smiling and tranquil. Other forms Shiva is sometimes represented as half man, half woman. He is also represented by the Shiva linga, a phallic statue that represents his raw power and masculinity. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva visited Lord Krishna on Earth in the Mahabharata primarily to witness Krishna's divine play as an avatar of Vishnu, to acknowledge his supreme power, and to express his deep reverence for Krishna's unique role in maintaining Dharma during a time of great turmoil on Earth; essentially, Shiva came to Earth to see Krishna's divine manifestation firsthand and pay homage to his extraordinary abilities. Key points about this visit: Divine curiosity: Shiva, as a supreme deity himself, was curious to see how Vishnu, in the form of Krishna, was playing out his role on Earth, particularly amidst the complexities of the Kurukshetra war. Respect for Krishna's power: Shiva recognized Krishna's immense power and divine nature, and his visit was a way to acknowledge Krishna's role in upholding cosmic balance. Dharma and the Mahabharata: The Mahabharata narrative highlights the critical role Krishna played in guiding Arjuna towards righteous action, which further motivated Shiva to witness Krishna's divine intervention on the battlefield.
