  • God is Merciful | Meditation on Psalm 103:8-12
    Jan 6 2025

In this guided Scripture meditation, we reflect on and rest in God’s mercy and compassion as revealed in Psalm 103:8-12.

In this new series, God Is, we take time to remember who God is and dwell on His incredible attributes.

Today, we reflect on the truth that God is merciful.

Psalm 103 reminds us that God is “compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.”

As you meditate on this passage, may you experience the depth of His mercy—a mercy that removes our sins as far as the east is from the west.

Let this meditation be a time to quiet your heart, reflect on God’s love, and embrace the richness of His mercy.

    Psalm 103:8-12, NIV

8 The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
9 He will not always accuse,
    nor will he harbor his anger forever;
10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
    so great is his love for those who fear him;
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

  • New Mercies for a New Year | Lamentations 3:22-26
    Dec 30 2024

This guided Scripture meditation will help you reflect on God’s mercies, both past and present.

Lamentations is a beautiful reminder that God's love never ends, and His mercies are new every morning.

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” (Lamentations 3:22-23, NLT)

    In this end-of-year meditation, we’ll:

    • Reflect on God's faithfulness and mercy over the past year.
    • Acknowledge our hopes and prayers as we step into the new year.
    • Rest in the promise that God’s mercies will meet us afresh in every new moment and day.

I pray this meditation helps you start the new year with a heart full of trust, gratitude, and anticipation for all that God will do.

22 The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.

23 Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.

24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”

25 The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.

26 So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.

  • Overflowing Joy | John 15:9-12 (Advent Week 4)
    Dec 23 2024

The fourth week of Advent invites us to reflect on joy—true joy—and how we experience it.

Get your FREE Unhurried Advent Guide here.

This 25-day guide is filled with Scripture meditations, devotional readings with reflective questions, and contemplative imagery—all designed to help you slow down and savor the Advent season. Created in collaboration with Unhurried Living, a ministry I’m confident you’ll love.

Joy is the focus of this final week of Advent.
What I love about joy is that it weaves through all the themes of Advent:

    • We have joy because Jesus is our sure hope.
    • We have joy because Jesus is the Prince of Peace.
    • We have joy because God is love, and Jesus reveals this to us.

At the heart of it all, we have joy because of Jesus—our Savior, who came to us that first Christmas morning.

In this meditation, we’ll explore how we can know more joy.
John 15:9-12 ties joy to a somewhat surprising source—obedience and love. Jesus tells us that true, overflowing joy comes when we follow his command to love one another as he has loved us.

As you meditate on this passage, may you rest in God’s love for you and discover the deep, overflowing joy that comes from loving as Jesus loves.

    John 15:9-12, NLT

9 “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. 10 When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. 11 I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! 12 This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.
