  • The sixth chapter of The Gospel of John begins with the miracle of Jesus feeding 5,000 people with just five barley loaves and two fish. After the people are filled, they recognize Him as a prophet and attempt to make Him king, but Jesus withdraws to a mountain alone. Later that evening, Jesus' disciples set out across the Sea of Galilee, and Jesus walks on water to meet them. The following day, the crowd finds Jesus and asks Him for more signs, which leads to His teaching about being the "bread of life."
