  • The PODCAST From Another TOKEN
    Jan 28 2025

This week, we're discussing a cult classic, John Carpenter's The Thing (1982). Deric has never seen the movie and it happens to be one of Ryan's all-time favorites. This is a classic horror movie that's full of suspense and paranoia. We'll be discussing the plot, characters, special effects, and more. We'll also be talking about the prequel to the movie, which was released in 2011, also titled The Thing. As always, we'll be discussing our own personal experiences with watching this movie, now and growing up(well, one of us anyways). So join us for this suspenseful episode of This Podcast Takes Tokens!

  • Revisiting A Franchise And Things Get... Weird
    Jan 21 2025

Today, we discuss the classic PlayStation 2 video game, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Released in 2001, this game is a sequel to the popular Metal Gear Solid. This is our first sequel episode, or the first episode where we dove back into a franchise we've already covered. For Ryan it was a first time play through, for Deric it was a return to something familiare, or so we thought. Things get... weird. We talk about what makes a good sequel and how this game almost didn't come out due to its release date coinciding with the aftermath of 9/11. We also talk about some of the things we didn't like about the game and some of the things we did. Did you know this game was almost canceled? We talk about the game's development. Be sure to listen to the end to hear our icebreaker question for next week's episode!

    Jan 14 2025

We're taking you back to 1984 to discuss the classic coming-of-age martial arts film, The Karate Kid, starring Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita, Elisabeth Shue and the highly underrated William Zabka!

It's like Rocky, but with feet and in high school!

We'll discuss the film's impact on 80s pop culture, analyze the characters and their relationships, and debate the effectiveness of Mr. Miyagi's unorthodox training methods. Plus, we'll reminisce about our own experiences with karate, bonsai trees, and 80s nostalgia.
