    Episode 25

Well as the boy's move into an exciting new year and today we are very luck to have special guest Jim Bunch.

Jim Bunch joins us today and tells us all about his battle with Cancer, diagnosis, treatment and major surgery which has left Jim with a Stoma bag.

Jim has kindly agreed to tell us today all about his experiences, his day to day life and the changes he's had to make with his new Stoma bag.

A stoma bag is a bag that collects waste from a stoma, which is an opening in the abdominal wall that connects the bowel to the surface of the body. A stoma can be created for a number of reasons, including bowel cancer, bladder cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis, or an obstruction in the bladder or bowel.

Adjusting to a colostomy can be difficult, but it does not mean you cannot enjoy a full and active life. Colostomy equipment is discreet and secure, and you should be able to do most of the activities you enjoyed before.

Award winning BBC presenter, Adele Roberts, didn't let her stoma bag slow her down after bowel cancer surgery.

We thank Jim today as his story I'm sure will help and inspire other's especially those who are about to go through a similar scenario.

    Series 2, Episode 21

Today the boys have another special guest Federico Barbarossa who is hoping to make a documentary on Homophobia especially in the popular seaside town of Brighton England.

Using his personal experiences Federico is hoping to pitch his documentary to mainstream TV here in the UK, having already recorded many interviews with friends, special guest and local business owners.

We address today Homophobia in Brighton and generally in our communities and are surprised how this seems to be on the increase mainly down to social media.

What is the official definition of homophobia?

The homophobia definition is the fear, hatred, discomfort with, or mistrust of people who are lesbian, gay, or bisexual.

Homophobia, like most phobias, is distinguished by an irrational fear of gay people or gay behavior. Gays have fought long and hard for the rights we have had recognised under our Constitution...but make no mistake about it.... homophobia and anti-gay attitudes are alive and well across our land and around the world.

Coined by George Weinberg, a psychologist, in the 1960s, the term homophobia is a blend of (1) the word homosexual, itself a mix of neo-classical morphemes, and (2) phobia from the Greek φόβος, phóbos, meaning "fear", "morbid fear" or "aversion". Weinberg is credited as the first person to have used the term in speech.

    Dec 6 2024

    Send us a text

It's already Episode 20 of Season 2 as we roll into winter 2024.

Again this week the boy's are lucky to have two Guests Bethany Keime and Charlie Kirkman, both have different heart conditions, Bathany and twin sister Hannah both suffer from Hypertropic Cardiomyopathy whilst Charlie has Arrhythmia.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a condition in which muscle tissues of the heart become thickened without an obvious cause. The parts of the heart most commonly affected are the interventricular septum and the ventricles.

This is is most often caused by abnormal genes in the heart muscle. These genes cause the walls of the heart chamber (left ventricle) to become thicker than normal. The thickened walls may become stiff and this can reduce the amount of blood taken in and pumped out to the body with each heartbeat.

    How is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy treated?

    • Activity limits. ...
    • Preventing dehydration. ...
    • Medicines to treat shortness of breath and chest pain. ...
    • Medicines to help prevent abnormal heart rhythms. ...
    • Anticoagulants. ...
    • Septal myectomy. ...
    • Alcohol septal ablation. ...
    • Implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD).

An Arrhythmia, or irregular heartbeat, is a problem with the rhythm or rate of your heartbeat. Your heart may beat too quickly, too slowly, or with an irregular rhythm. It is normal for your heart rate to speed up during physical activity and to slow down while resting or sleeping but with Arrhythmia this can be irregular anytime.

While Arrhythmias can be a serious condition that can affect your health, there are also treatments available to help. By following a treatment plan and making heart healthy lifestyle changes, you can learn how to live with a cardiac arrhythmia.

In today's Interview Bethany & Charlie tell us openly and honestly about their conditions from diagnosis to how the deal with it today and in everyday life.

Bethany & sister Hannah are two remarkable twins who have taken this illness head on and realised there are others like themselves undiagnosed. Their experience as young teenagers soon discovered there was little information available and resorted to Google to explore their condition.

Social Media Patient Community did not exist, so Bethany & Hannah set about correcting this by starting their own Social media presence "Heart Charged" in hope to reach out to those with this condition and those still to be diagnosed.

They made us aware that as young women it was hard to get healthcare professionals to take them seriously with their health issues, simply sidelining them and saying "It's all part of growing up as a young Women" It wasn't until a member of the family discovered they had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy that both Bethany & Hannah were then checked for this Condition.

These young women have gone from strength to strength and this is how they met Charlie through Their social media connections and recent success with the "Sudden Cardiac Art" Exhibition in the UK, now destined for Southern California.

    Season II - Episode 18

A very special guest today, we welcome a friend of Patrick going back 12 years to their meeting in the Racing Scene.

Patrick met todays guest during his racing carer back in the day Pete Diamant a fellow competitor in the popular Mini Challenge national race series.

Pete was diagnosed in April 2021 with Stage 4 Renal (Kidney) cancer and started IppiNivo Immunotherapy some six weeks later.

Some later complications whilst receiving this treatment required further treatment and stays in hospital. In December 2023 Pete received the news a secondary cancer discovery had been made during his routine checkup.

Pete openly and honestly tells us his story form diagnosis to present day, this is truly a remarkable journey and whilst Pete has a positive mental attitude he omits this has been tested to the limit second time around.

Renal cancer, also known as Kidney cancer, is a group of cancers that starts in the kidney. Symptoms may include blood in the urine, a lump in the abdomen, or back pain. Fever, weight loss, and tiredness may also occur.

Early on, kidney masses do not typically cause any symptoms and are undetectable on physical examination. As kidney cancer becomes more advanced it classically results in blood in the urine, flank or back pain, and a mass. Other symptoms that are consistent with advanced disease include weight loss, fever, night sweats, palpable swollen lymph nodes in the neck, non-reducing varicocele, bone pain, continuous cough, and bilateral lower leg swelling.
